Most music lovers who know the names Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks are familiar with their work with Fleetwood Mac, though the two musicians are not original members of the pop rock outfit. The pair actually got their start together as the duo Buckingham Nicks, a moniker that was largely lost to time except among rock aficionados and those who have closely followed their connected careers throughout the decades.

Buckingham Nicks released one album, a self-titled project, which was not a commercial success during its run in the early 1970s. More than half a century after Buckingham Nicks flopped, the folk rock effort was reissued only a few months ago, finally becoming a hit on several Billboard charts. The title returns to multiple rankings in the U.S. this frame as sales jumped several hundred percent.

Buckingham Nicks Returns to Several Billboard Charts

Buckingham Nicks finds its way back to a pair of Billboard lists this period. The duo’s full-length rises to No. 18 on the Vinyl Albums ranking while also reentering the Top Album Sales chart, which ranks the bestselling full-lengths and EPs of any style and via any format throughout America, at No. 30.

Despite the fact that Buckingham Nicks was originally released more than five decades ago, the project has spent less than a month on both Billboard charts it can be found on at present. Buckingham Nicks is up to three stays on the vinyl ranking and just one more on the Top Album Sales list.

Sales of Buckingham Nicks Grow by More Than 300% in One Week

From one frame to the next, purchases of Buckingham Nicks exploded, and it is that massive uptick in sales that helped it become a Billboard winner again. Buckingham Nicks sold just under 4,100 copies between digital downloads, CDs, and vinyl. That is up 308% from the period prior, when 1,000 Americans bought the legacy effort, according to Luminate.

Where Did the Buckingham Nicks Album Peak on the Charts?

While Buckingham Nicks does find its way to two of Billboard’s more competitive albums rosters, the self-titled release does not come close to its all-time high. When Buckingham Nicks finally reached the rankings this past autumn, it peaked at No. 2 on the Vinyl Albums chart and No. 3 on the Top Album Sales list. Those are incredibly impressive positions for a half-century-old title, especially one that was not a critical or fan favorite during its initial promotional heyday.

The History of Buckingham Nicks

Buckingham Nicks was released in September 1973 and supported by several singles throughout the next few years. While Nicks and Buckingham went on to enjoy some of the most prestigious careers in rock music thanks at first to Fleetwood Mac, the album remained out of print for many years, much to the chagrin of those who fell in love with the artists and wanted to hear everything they had ever recorded.

In July 2025, Nicks and Buckingham announced that Buckingham Nicks was finally being reissued, and Americans were ready. The album moved 30,000 equivalent units during its first new tracking frame, and that proved to be enough to send the title to No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart. Buckingham Nicks nearly conquered both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Vinyl Albums rankings and just narrowly failed to enter the top 10 on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at No. 11.

Now, as holiday shopping trends grow and new copies of Buckingham Nicks ship to fans, it becomes a winner on the Billboard rosters once more.
