The sci-fi thriller Predator: Badlands, starring Elle Fanning, opened in theaters a month ago. How soon will it be available to watch at home?
Predator: Badlands opened in theaters nationwide on Nov. 7. Per the film’s official synopsis, Predator: Badlands “is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.”
Rated PG-13, Predator: Badlands is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the filmmaker behind the Predator prequel Prey and animated movie Predator: Killer of Killers.
Most major studios, including Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and Universal Pictures, typically release their films on digital streaming via premium video on demand anywhere between a month and six weeks after they open in theaters.
Predator: Badlands was released by 20th Century Studios, which is a subsidiary of Disney Studios. As such, all digital streaming releases under the Disney film umbrella generally have a 60-day theatrical window between the day their films open in theaters and the time they arrive on PVOD. There are exceptions — Tron: Ares arrived on PVOD 53 days after its release in theaters— but for the most part, Disney releases stick to a 60-day window.
Should Predator: Badlands follow the standard Disney PVOD release pattern, the film should be available to purchase or rent on digital streaming on Jan. 6, 2026.
Most new films on PVOD cost anywhere from $19.99 to $29.99 to purchase or $14.99 to $24.99 to rent for a 48-hour period, and are available on such platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube Movies & TV.
How Is ‘Predator: Badlands’ Performing In Theaters?
Predator: Badlands is currently playing in 2,080 North American theaters and made $1.8 million for the weekend of Dec. 5 -7. To date, the film has earned $88.2 million and $91.8 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $180 million.
The film had a production budget of $105 million before marketing costs, according to Variety.
Predator: Badlands is the seventh film in the Predator film series. The franchise began with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Predator in 1987, followed by Predator 2, starring Danny Glover, in 1990. The franchise was rebooted for the first time in 2010 with Predators and rebooted again with The Predator in 2018.
Dan Trachtenberg took over the franchise in 2022 with Prey, and he followed up with Predator: Killer of Killers in May of 2025 before the release of Predator: Badlands in November.
In addition, Predator had two crossover films with 20th Century’s Alien franchise, including Alien vs. Predator in 2004 and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem in 2007.
Oddly enough, Predator: Badlands contains Alien movie elements with the involvement of synthetic beings from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, but the staple of the franchise — the Xenomorphs — don’t appear in the film.
Predator: Badlands is still playing in theaters.
