Ripple (XRP)’s ninth annual Swell conference, held in New York City, gathered financial innovators from both traditional finance (TradFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) sectors. The event underscored the transformative role of blockchain in global finance, shifting from speculative ventures to operational necessities, according to a report by Ripple.

Real-World Utility Takes Center Stage

Throughout the two-day event, a consensus emerged that blockchain projects have transitioned from pilot phases to full-scale production. Speakers highlighted use cases such as onchain finance and stablecoin payments, emphasizing how digital assets are delivering tangible business benefits. Ripple’s President, Monica Long, noted the deployment of Ripple solutions by institutions like Braza Bank and Zand Bank to offer real-time U.S. payouts and expand market reach.

TradFi and DeFi Convergence

The conference discussions were dominated by stablecoins, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, and digital asset custody. These elements serve as bridges between TradFi and DeFi, allowing financial entities to integrate blockchain benefits into existing frameworks. Ripple’s USD stablecoin (RLUSD) has notably surpassed $1 billion in market cap, facilitating cross-border payments and FX settlements.

Institutional Embrace of Crypto

2025 marked a significant shift towards institutional adoption of crypto. New crypto-related IPOs and the growing demand for XRP through exchange-traded products (ETPs) highlighted this trend. Industry leaders at Swell predicted that corporate entities and treasury teams would spearhead the next wave of crypto adoption.

Regulatory Advancements and Global Standards

Optimism about global regulatory progress was tempered by calls for increased standardization across markets. The implementation of frameworks like Europe’s MiCA and the U.S. GENIUS Act were seen as steps forward, yet speakers stressed the need for harmonized reporting and interoperable standards to unlock mass adoption.

Ripple’s Strategic M&A Moves

Ripple’s aggressive expansion, highlighted by six major acquisitions and a $40 billion valuation, underscores its ambition to be a leading blockchain infrastructure provider. CEO Brad Garlinghouse emphasized Ripple’s goal to serve as a comprehensive provider for institutions aiming to leverage blockchain technology.

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
