Robinhood Cortex doubles down on AI and prediction markets

The next era of intelligent investing on Robinhood formally kicked off tonight at the historic Summit Skywalker Ranch outside San Francisco.

Chairman and CEO Vlad Tenev unveiled a suite of products he said will help define the platform’s future, including an all-new Robinhood Cortex experience, personalized portfolio Digests, and major upgrades to prediction markets.

Moreover, he framed the launch as a cornerstone in the company’s long-term mission to reshape how everyday investors access financial tools and information.

Prediction markets reimagined with new contracts and tools

Since launching at the end of last year, prediction markets have become Robinhood’s fastest-growing product line by revenue ever. More than 11 billion contracts have been traded by over 1 million customers.

However, that rapid growth has also amplified demand for more contracts and more sophisticated trading tools across sports, politics, economics, and culture.

Since Thanksgiving, Robinhood has made notable upgrades to its prediction markets hub. The company has rolled out limit orders, dollar-based trading, 24/7 access, a live sports contract hub, and a redesigned event detail page for several sports. In addition, thousands of live events are now listed across economics, politics, sports, culture, and more, giving traders far broader exposure to real-world outcomes.

Today, Robinhood is taking another step with a new set of contract types and sports-focused tools designed to deepen engagement and precision. These offerings focus heavily on Pro Football and are built to convert detailed sports knowledge into structured trading opportunities.

Preset and custom combos for Pro Football

The first major addition is Preset Combos. These will let customers trade pre-configured combinations tied to individual Pro Football games. Each preset combo bundles outcomes, totals, and spreads within a single game into one contract. As with other event contracts, each combo will pay $1, but only if every outcome in the contract resolves correctly.

Early next year, Robinhood plans to introduce Custom Combos. With these, customers will be able to combine up to ten outcomes into a brand-new contract across Pro Football games. That said, while more complex, these custom structures aim to give advanced traders significantly more control over risk and payoff profiles.

New player performance contracts

Starting today, customers can also trade Player Contracts linked to individual Pro Football player performances. These include markets such as Anytime TD, Passing Yards, Receiving Yards, Rushing Yards, and more. Moreover, all these contracts can be tracked and traded in real time in one unified interface, with additional sports to follow.

These enhanced tools are designed to give traders greater precision, control, and access to the events that matter most to them. Expanding the prediction offering is a key step toward Robinhood’s broader goal: enabling anyone to trade, invest, or hold any financial asset and conduct any financial transaction on its platform.

Scoreboard newsletter keeps sports traders informed

As Robinhood continues to broaden its sports-related prediction universe with new contract types and trading tools, its media arm Sherwood Media is supporting that growth with content. The team has launched Scoreboard, a sports-focused newsletter designed for customers who follow games and markets closely.

Scoreboard is delivered Monday through Friday at midday and highlights the key games, stats, and sports markets news readers need to know. However, the newsletter is not limited to advanced traders; it also helps newer customers stay ahead of the curve in a fast-moving sports environment. The product is 100% free, and customers can sign up directly on the Sherwood site.

Smarter, faster investing with a new Robinhood Cortex

Robinhood first introduced its AI-powered investing assistant, Robinhood Cortex, in March at the company’s Lost City of Gold event. Available exclusively to Robinhood Gold subscribers, it has since acted as the brain behind the app’s AI features, providing real-time analysis and insights on market-moving news across stocks and crypto.

Today, Robinhood announced the next generation of this assistant. The updated system will be seamlessly embedded throughout the Robinhood app and is designed to reduce friction between idea and action. Moreover, by turning complex streams of financial information into clear prompts and suggested actions, it aims to convert information into opportunity more quickly.

The company says this upgraded robinhood cortex will ultimately become the primary interface for navigating the entire Robinhood experience. That includes research, trading, and account management, all accessible through a conversational layer that is meant to feel intuitive to a broad base of investors.

Accuracy, personalization, and action at the core

Robinhood highlighted three pillars that distinguish its AI assistant. The first is accuracy. To strengthen reliability, Robinhood Cortex pulls from high-quality, trusted inputs such as real-time market data, analyst reports, and research reports used by many leading Wall Street firms. However, customers remain responsible for final decisions.

The second pillar is personalization. Cortex breaks down what is moving in each customer’s portfolio by connecting real-time news, market shifts, and analyst insights to that individual’s specific holdings. It then explains why each development matters, using plain English rather than technical jargon.

The third pillar is action. Using natural-language prompts, customers can ask Cortex to buy and sell equities and crypto, conduct market research, explore event contracts, and adjust account settings. Importantly, all of this happens while keeping customers in full control of confirmations and final execution.

The new Robinhood Cortex experience will begin rolling out in the first quarter of next year to Robinhood Gold subscribers. A Gold membership costs $5 per month or $50 annually, positioning the AI tools as a premium feature set for active users.

Portfolio Digests bring AI insights to everyday investors

Earlier this year, Robinhood launched individual stock and crypto Digests to help customers understand why specific assets were moving. However, feedback showed that many investors still wanted clearer explanations of what was driving the performance of their entire portfolio on any given day.

To address that gap, the company is introducing portfolio-level Digests powered by Robinhood Cortex. These AI-driven, personalized summaries are tailored to each customer’s holdings and are delivered in simple, straightforward language. Moreover, they are designed not only to explain what is happening today, but also to help customers prepare for tomorrow.

The new personalized portfolio Digests will summarize each customer’s top portfolio drivers, highlighting the top return driver, top mover, and more. They will also surface upcoming events related to specific holdings, such as earnings releases and stock splits, giving investors a forward-looking view of potential catalysts.

In addition, Digests will provide benchmark comparisons, including references to the S&P 500, so customers can see how their performance stacks up against major indices. They will also bring Wall Street-style insights to everyday investors directly on the investing home screen, removing the need to switch between multiple apps or research platforms.

The new Digests experience will work across asset classes and will refresh multiple times per day, or whenever relevant news breaks. That said, the goal is to ensure that the most important information is always at the customer’s fingertips. The service will be available across self-directed accounts, while a similar experience already exists for managed accounts, including daily summaries and lists of top drivers and detractors.

Personalized portfolio Digests are scheduled to start rolling out to Robinhood Gold subscribers early next year, extending the premium AI feature set beyond research and trade execution into ongoing portfolio monitoring.

Looking ahead to HOOD Holidays and beyond

Robinhood framed these launches as another significant step toward its mission to democratize finance for all. By layering AI and prediction tools across its platform, it aims to provide investors with more clarity, confidence, control, and speed as they navigate volatile markets.

To close out the year and mark this milestone, the company has planned a special holiday initiative for customers.

Starting December 26, Robinhood will kick off its first-ever HOOD Holidays, promising what it calls “highly coveted gifts” that it expects will be on the top of many users’ wishlists. Moreover, the campaign is positioned as a way to bring additional cheer to customers while reinforcing loyalty during a pivotal product transition.

Together, the expanded prediction markets, embedded AI assistant, and personalized portfolio Digests signal how Robinhood intends to compete in 2025 and beyond. If adoption matches early demand, the platform could become a model for how retail investing apps blend automation, personalization, and real-time market access into a single experience.
