ABS-CBN settles money dispute with TV5, signs deal with Villar’s ALLTV

MANILA, Philippines – Lopez-led ABS-CBN Corporation has settled its financial dispute with Manny V. Pangilinan’s (MVP) TV5 and Mediaquest while announcing a licensing deal with Manny Villar’s ALLTV.

In a disclosure late Wednesday, December 17, the former broadcast giant said it has acceded to TV5’s notice terminating its content agreement effective January 2, 2026.

The content deal allowed TV5 to air ABS-CBN shows on the Kapatid channel’s primetime slots on weekdays and on weekends with the two platforms sharing ad revenues.

ABS-CBN also said that it has “formally tendered payments” to the MVP Group that settles a reported nearly P1 billion in delayed payments of TV5’s revenue share from the content deal. The Kapatid Channel earlier said the delay “had affected TV5’s ability to settle its own obligations.”

ABS-CBN, which is heavily indebted, had disputed the reported P950 million delayed payments to TV5 as of October 2025, although it did not provide details on what it was contesting.

In the same disclosure, ABS-CBN said it has signed a licensing agreement with Villar’s Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), owner and operater of ALLTV Network, on the airing of ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Channel on ALLTV starting January 2.

ABS-CBN trims losses, GMA profits sink amid slipping ad revenues in 2024

“Starting on this date, ALLTV audiences will be able to watch their favorite ABS-CBN shows like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Roja, What Lies Beneath, It’s Showtime, ASAP, TV Patrol, and more. Prime ABS-CBN programs will continue to be available on A2Z, with It’s Showtime and Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab 2.0 airing on GMA,” ABS-CBN said.

ALLTV operates ABS-CBN’s former free tv Channel 2, which the Lopezes lost after the Rodrigo Duterte administration rejected the broadcast renewal in 2020. Then-congresswoman and now Senator Camille Villar was among those who voted against a new franchise for ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN signed a content deal with AMBS in 2024 on the airing of old content under their Jeepney TV brand plus the noon show It’s Showtime and its primetime news show TV Patrol.

In a press statement on Wednesday, ABS-CBN thanked Pangilinan and TV5 “for providing a home for some ABS-CBN programs since 2021.” – Rappler.com
