Survivor, CBS’s long-running reality series, is airing its highly anticipated Season 49 finale tonight. However, President Donald Trump’s primetime address to the nation will interrupt the broadcast, affecting the episode and cutting into the show.

The 49th season premiered in September and introduced 18 castaways willing to endure food deprivation, harsh elements and intense challenges to become the Sole Survivor and secure one of two available spots on the Survivor 50 cast in 2026. At the start of the season, the contestants were divided into three tribes: Civa, Vula and Lagi.

In May, Kyle Fraser, a 31-year-old attorney from Brooklyn, New York, was named the winner of Survivor Season 48 after a 5–2–1 jury vote. Tonight, a new winner will be crowned and take home the $1 million prize. The five castaways still in the competion are Kristina Mills (36), Rizo Velovic (25), Sage Ahrens-Nichols (30), Savannah Louie (31) and Sophi Balerdi (27).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly ahead of the episode, longtime host Jeff Probst teased that the finale will deliver “the culmination of everything these players have fought through for 26 days. The alliances, the fractures, the risks that paid off, the ones that didn’t — it all converges.”

He added that the final contestants are a reflection of the game they’ve played so far. “Every move, every blindside, every moment of hesitation or courage… it all adds up to who’s still standing,” Probst said.

The Survivor Season 49 finale airs at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS on Wednesday, Dec 17.

When Will The Survivor Season 49 Finale Be Interrupted?

The Survivor Season 49 finale is three hours long and was initially slated to end around 11 p.m. ET, but that won’t be the case.

The broadcast will be interrupted by President Trump’s address to the nation, which is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 17, about one hour into the finale. Trump announced the address via a Truth Social post on Tuesday afternoon.

When Is The Survivor Finale Coming Back On CBS?

Survivor will return on CBS once Trump’s address to the nation concludes. Neither Trump nor the White House has provided details about how long the speech will last.

CBS confirmed that the Survivor Season 49 finale “will resume where it left off immediately following the president’s address for Eastern and Central Time Zone viewers on the CBS Television Network and air in its entirety. Check your local listings for more details.”

CBS’ television schedule may offer a clue as to how long the address will last. It lists the president’s address as running roughly 22 minutes, after which the network returns to the Survivor broadcast at 9:22 p.m. ET, with the finale expected to end at approximately 11:22 p.m. ET.

Still, given the unpredictability of speeches, especially Trump’s, which have tended to run long, there’s a chance the address could be shorter or longer than anticipated.

China Blocks Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D as Local Chips Rise

The post China Blocks Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D as Local Chips Rise appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. China Blocks Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D as Local Chips Rise China’s internet regulator has ordered the country’s biggest technology firms, including Alibaba and ByteDance, to stop purchasing Nvidia’s RTX Pro 6000D GPUs. According to the Financial Times, the move shuts down the last major channel for mass supplies of American chips to the Chinese market. Why Beijing Halted Nvidia Purchases Chinese companies had planned to buy tens of thousands of RTX Pro 6000D accelerators and had already begun testing them in servers. But regulators intervened, halting the purchases and signaling stricter controls than earlier measures placed on Nvidia’s H20 chip. Image: Nvidia An audit compared Huawei and Cambricon processors, along with chips developed by Alibaba and Baidu, against Nvidia’s export-approved products. Regulators concluded that Chinese chips had reached performance levels comparable to the restricted U.S. models. This assessment pushed authorities to advise firms to rely more heavily on domestic processors, further tightening Nvidia’s already limited position in China. China’s Drive Toward Tech Independence The decision highlights Beijing’s focus on import substitution — developing self-sufficient chip production to reduce reliance on U.S. supplies. “The signal is now clear: all attention is focused on building a domestic ecosystem,” said a representative of a leading Chinese tech company. Nvidia had unveiled the RTX Pro 6000D in July 2025 during CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Beijing, in an attempt to keep a foothold in China after Washington restricted exports of its most advanced chips. But momentum is shifting. Industry sources told the Financial Times that Chinese manufacturers plan to triple AI chip production next year to meet growing demand. They believe “domestic supply will now be sufficient without Nvidia.” What It Means for the Future With Huawei, Cambricon, Alibaba, and Baidu stepping up, China is positioning itself for long-term technological independence. Nvidia, meanwhile, faces…

Aave DAO to Shut Down 50% of L2s While Doubling Down on GHO

Aave DAO to Shut Down 50% of L2s While Doubling Down on GHO

The post Aave DAO to Shut Down 50% of L2s While Doubling Down on GHO appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Aave DAO is gearing up for a significant overhaul by shutting down over 50% of underperforming L2 instances. It is also restructuring its governance framework and deploying over $100 million to boost GHO. This could be a pivotal moment that propels Aave back to the forefront of on-chain lending or sparks unprecedented controversy within the DeFi community. Sponsored Sponsored ACI Proposes Shutting Down 50% of L2s The “State of the Union” report by the Aave Chan Initiative (ACI) paints a candid picture. After a turbulent period in the DeFi market and internal challenges, Aave (AAVE) now leads in key metrics: TVL, revenue, market share, and borrowing volume. Aave’s annual revenue of $130 million surpasses the combined cash reserves of its competitors. Tokenomics improvements and the AAVE token buyback program have also contributed to the ecosystem’s growth. Aave global metrics. Source: Aave However, the ACI’s report also highlights several pain points. First, regarding the Layer-2 (L2) strategy. While Aave’s L2 strategy was once a key driver of success, it is no longer fit for purpose. Over half of Aave’s instances on L2s and alt-L1s are not economically viable. Based on year-to-date data, over 86.6% of Aave’s revenue comes from the mainnet, indicating that everything else is a side quest. On this basis, ACI proposes closing underperforming networks. The DAO should invest in key networks with significant differentiators. Second, ACI is pushing for a complete overhaul of the “friendly fork” framework, as most have been unimpressive regarding TVL and revenue. In some cases, attackers have exploited them to Aave’s detriment, as seen with Spark. Sponsored Sponsored “The friendly fork model had a good intention but bad execution where the DAO was too friendly towards these forks, allowing the DAO only little upside,” the report states. Third, the instance model, once a smart…
