PANews reported on December 29 that the State Council Tariff Commission released the "2026 Tariff Adjustment Plan," which will take effect on January 1, 2026. This adjustment aims to promote high-quality development, optimize tariff item settings, and continue to implement agreed tariff rates and preferential tariff rates.
The main contents include:
- Provisional import tariffs lower than the most-favored-nation (MFN) tariff rates will be applied to 935 commodities, covering key technological components, resource-based commodities for green transformation, and medical products;
- The provisional import tariff rates for some goods will be cancelled and the most-favored-nation tariff rates will be restored, such as micro motors and printing machines;
- New tariff items, such as intelligent bionic robots and bio-aviation kerosene, have been added, bringing the total number of tariff items to 8,972.
- We will continue to offer zero tariffs on 100% of products from 43 least developed countries and will apply preferential tariff rates to imports from some ASEAN member states.
