BNB Chain Sets 2026 Tech Roadmap After a Year of Heavy Network Demand

  • BNB Chain hit zero downtime in 2025 while processing record trading and RWA activity.
  • Gas fees dropped to 0.05 gwei, boosting affordability and reducing MEV by 95%.
  • 2026 roadmap targets 20,000 TPS with parallel execution and AI-driven payments.

BNB Chain has laid out its 2026 technology roadmap after a year marked by sustained growth and heavy network usage. During 2025, the blockchain operated continuously without downtime while handling record trading volumes, stablecoin flows, and real-world asset activity. Consequently, the roadmap reflects lessons learned from operating under real production pressure rather than theoretical benchmarks.

The network entered 2026 with a clear objective. It plans to scale performance further while preserving reliability, affordability, and fair execution. Besides focusing on raw speed, BNB Chain aims to strengthen infrastructure resilience as transaction demand continues to rise across DeFi and institutional use cases.

2025 Results Set the Technical Baseline

Throughout 2025, BNB Chain prioritized four outcomes, reliability, speed, cost efficiency, and execution fairness. The network processed up to five trillion gas daily while maintaining zero downtime. Additionally, sub-second block times and faster finality improved transaction responsiveness during peak trading periods.

Fees declined sharply as gas prices fell to 0.05 gwei. Hence, users accessed the network affordably even during traffic spikes. At the same time, validator incentives remained intact through efficiency-focused optimizations. Significantly, coordinated ecosystem efforts reduced malicious MEV activity by 95 percent, improving transaction fairness.

These upgrades supported measurable growth. Total value locked rose more than 40%, while daily transactions reached 31 million. Moreover, stablecoin capitalization doubled to $14 billion at its peak, and tokenized real-world assets exceeded $1.8 billion.

Protocol Upgrades and Client Improvements

BNB Chain achieved these results through a series of hardforks that reshaped core performance. Block times dropped to under half a second, while finality approached one second. Network bandwidth also more than doubled, enabling consistent high-throughput execution.

However, performance gains extended beyond consensus changes. The network introduced Rust-based clients built on Reth, which improved node synchronization and stability.

Additionally, database optimizations reduced bottlenecks during traffic surges. These changes lowered operational strain for infrastructure providers and improved network reliability.

Execution efficiency also advanced through smarter transaction handling. Super Instructions reduced EVM overhead, while research into compilation and parallel execution laid groundwork for higher throughput. Consequently, BNB Chain now targets over 20,000 transactions per second during 2026.

2026 and Beyond: Scaling for Trading and RWAs

Looking ahead, BNB Chain plans deeper execution optimizations and parallel-friendly storage systems. Moreover, it will continue a dual-client approach, balancing stability with high-performance innovation. Middleware initiatives will also simplify privacy tools and AI-driven payment systems for developers.

Beyond 2026, the roadmap outlines a next-generation trading chain. This system targets near-instant confirmations and extreme throughput. Hence, BNB Chain positions itself for advanced trading, AI, and real-world asset use cases while preserving continuity for existing applications.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
