Claim: President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. did not receive a net trust rating of -3%, but a rating of 87%.
Why we fact-checked this: A Facebook and TikTok account named “Romeo TV” is spreading the claim in a reel that has garnered a combined engagement of more than 46,300 views, 3,600 reactions, and 1,500 comments since it was posted on January 4.
Referencing a graphic showing the results of a survey, the narrator stated, “Ito ang tunay na katotohanan na si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ay hindi -3, kundi positive 87% dahil kitang-kita ng taumbayan na marami siyang ginagawa.”
(This is the truth, that President Bongbong Marcos did not get a -3 rating, but positive 87%, because the people can clearly see that he has done a lot.)
The survey result referenced in the reel was published by Bagong Pilipinas Chronicles, a Facebook page that identifies as a media company, which has over 200,000 followers. The page made a post on January 1 allegedly showing that 87% of Filipinos support Marcos as the country’s leader, while only 13% favor Vice President Sara Duterte, according to the results of a “BP Chronicles Survey.”
The Bagong Pilipinas Chronicles post has gained over 2,000 reactions, 900 comments, and 100 shares as of writing. Most of the top comments were from Marcos’ supporters affirming their support for the President.
The facts: Romeo TV’s claim is false because Marcos did post a net trust rating of -3, according to a November 2025 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey commissioned by consultancy firm Stratbase.
According to the SWS survey, 38% of respondents said they had “much trust” in Marcos, while 41% said they had “little trust” in him. These November trust numbers mean the President had a net trust rating (much trust minus little trust) of -3. (READ: Marcos trust numbers slip amid flood control mess – SWS survey)
The misleading Facebook reel falsely suggests that Marcos never received a -3 rating and that 87% is the correct figure, but does so by citing the results of a different survey altogether — that of BP Chronicles — causing public confusion.
Additionally, another survey by research firm Pulse Asia, conducted in September 2025, also saw Marcos’ performance and trust ratings dropping amid the corruption controversies hounding his administration.
Different surveys: The SWS survey was conducted from November 24 to 30 and released on December 26. In a press release, the survey firm disclosed its survey questions, sampling size, and sampling error margin.
Meanwhile, there is no information about the BP Chronicles survey. The page provides no evidence that an actual survey was conducted, nor does it cite its research methodology, sample size, or other supporting data to back up its claim.
This pattern is consistent with other “surveys” previously published by the same page, which likewise lack verifiable data or documentation.
According to the American Association for Public Opinion Research, it is important to disclose details such as a survey’s sample size, margin of sampling error, weighting attributes, the full text of the questions and answer options, the survey mode, and the population under study, among others, to follow industry standards for transparency in reporting data.
Compared to established survey institutions like SWS and Pulse Asia, which conduct public opinion surveys in accordance with research methodology, the results published by BP Chronicles lack sufficient basis for credibility. – Princess Leah Sagaad/Rappler.com
