OpenAI introduces GPT-5.2-Codex, an advanced AI model for software engineering and cybersecurity, enhancing long-term task handling and network security capabilities.

OpenAI has officially launched GPT-5.2-Codex, a cutting-edge AI model designed to bolster capabilities in software engineering and network security. This release marks a significant advancement in AI technology, offering enhanced performance in long-range task execution and improved handling of large-scale code changes, such as refactoring and migration, according to OpenAI.

Enhanced Capabilities for Software and Security

GPT-5.2-Codex builds upon its predecessor, GPT-5.2, with deep optimization for Codex agent coding. Key improvements include context compaction for better long-term task execution, superior performance in large-scale code modifications, and enhanced capabilities in Windows environments. The model’s network security features have also seen significant upgrades, addressing the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats.

In a recent demonstration, a security researcher utilized the previous version, GPT-5.1-Codex-Max, to discover vulnerabilities in React applications, showcasing the model’s potential in real-world cybersecurity applications. This capability underscores the importance of deploying advanced AI models responsibly to mitigate dual-use risks.

Strategic Deployment and Access

OpenAI is rolling out GPT-5.2-Codex to paid ChatGPT users across all Codex platforms, with plans to extend access to API users in the coming weeks. Additionally, a ‘trusted access’ program is being piloted, offering vetted professionals and organizations focused on defensive cybersecurity work access to forthcoming features and models.

This strategic deployment is aimed at balancing usability with security, ensuring that the model’s capabilities are harnessed responsibly and effectively. The program seeks to empower security professionals with the tools needed to enhance defensive strategies while maintaining robust security controls.

Impact on Software Engineering

GPT-5.2-Codex not only retains the professional advantages of GPT-5.2 but also integrates the cutting-edge capabilities of GPT-5.1-Codex-Max. Its ability to understand long contexts, reliably call tools, and maintain high factual accuracy makes it a trustworthy partner for handling complex coding tasks.

The model excelled in benchmarks such as SWE-Bench Pro and Terminal-Bench 2.0, which assess AI performance in real terminal environments. These tests confirm its efficiency and reliability in native Windows settings, further extending its capabilities beyond previous models.

Future Prospects in Cybersecurity

OpenAI’s commitment to advancing AI capabilities is evident in its continuous enhancement of network security features. Despite not yet reaching the ‘high’ level of cybersecurity capability as per the preparedness framework, GPT-5.2-Codex sets the stage for future models to achieve this milestone.

As AI systems grow more powerful, responsible deployment remains a core focus. OpenAI’s approach includes stronger security safeguards, rigorous access controls, and ongoing collaboration with the security community to ensure that advancements in AI technology contribute positively to cybersecurity efforts.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
