In plaats van ETH alleen op de balans te houden, kiest BitMine ervoor om het actief in te zetten binnen het proof-of-stake netwerk van Ethereum en zo extra rendement te verdienen. Ethereum staking transacties van BitMine wallet – Arkham Intelligence Staking houdt in dat tokens worden vastgezet om het netwerk te beveiligen. In ruil daarvoor ontvangt de validator, in dit geval dus BMNR, een beloning in ETH munten. Daarmee biedt het BMNR aandeel een voordeel ten opzichte van Bitcoin (BTC) treasury bedrijven die hun munten alleen vasthouden. Jaarlijkse opbrengst van tientallen miljoenen dollars Bij een huidige staking yield van zo’n 2,8% levert de Ethereum positie van BitMine naar schatting ruim $90 miljoen per jaar op, uitgedrukt in ETH. Dat maakt een duidelijk verschil ten opzichte van bedrijven die zich uitsluitend richten op niet-rendement genererende crypto activa. Analisten wijzen erop dat dit een strategisch voordeel kan zijn in langdurige bearish markten. Waar bijvoorbeeld Bitcoin geen directe cashflow oplevert, zorgt staking bij Ethereum wel voor een continue inkomstenstroom. Dit betekent dat BitMine makkelijker zijn schulden kan aflossen ook als de ethereum prijs daalt. Aandeel BitMine fors onder druk Ondanks de sterke uitbreiding van de Ethereum staking staat het aandeel BitMine zwaar onder druk. Sinds de piek in juli 2025 is de koers meer dan 80% gedaald. Daarmee is BitMine geen uitzondering. Ook andere crypto treasury bedrijven hebben een moeilijk jaar achter de rug. Aandelen van onder meer Strategy en het Japanse Metaplanet, beide bekend om hun Bitcoin strategie, zagen eveneens stevige dalingen. De belangrijkste oorzaak ligt bij de bredere marktcondities. Zowel Bitcoin als Ethereum noteren momenteel ruim onder hun all-time high. Bitcoin handelt circa 28% lager, terwijl Ethereum zelfs ongeveer 37% onder zijn record staat. Tom Lee blijft uitgesproken optimistisch Ondanks de koersdruk blijft BitMine voorzitter Tom Lee opvallend optimistisch over de toekomst van het bedrijf. Begin januari stelde hij aandeelhouders voor om het maximaal aantal uit te geven aandelen te verhogen van 50 miljoen naar 50 miljard. Het gaat om een technische wijziging die vooral bedoeld is om toekomstige aandelensplitsingen mogelijk te maken. Volgens Lee moet dit helpen om de koers per aandeel op langere termijn rond een betaalbaar niveau, bijvoorbeeld $25 per aandeel, te houden. Belangrijk is dat een hogere aandelen limiet niet automatisch betekent dat al deze aandelen ook daadwerkelijk worden uitgegeven. De voorgestelde maatregel suggereert dat Lee rekent op een fors hogere aandelenkoers in de toekomst, waarbij meerdere stock splits nodig zouden zijn om de prijs per aandeel toegankelijk te houden voor beleggers. €20 new user bonus! The Federal Reserve has made its first Fed rate cut this year following today’s FOMC meeting, lowering interest rates by 25 basis points (bps). This comes in line with expectations, while the crypto market awaits Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech for guidance on the committee’s stance moving forward. FOMC Makes First Fed Rate Cut This Year With 25 Bps Cut In a press release, the committee announced that it has decided to lower the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 bps from between 4.25% and 4.5% to 4% and 4.25%. This comes in line with expectations as market participants were pricing in a 25 bps cut, as against a 50 bps cut. This marks the first Fed rate cut this year, with the last cut before this coming last year in December. Notably, the Fed also made the first cut last year in September, although it was a 50 bps cut back then. All Fed officials voted in favor of a 25 bps cut except Stephen Miran, who dissented in favor of a 50 bps cut. This rate cut decision comes amid concerns that the labor market may be softening, with recent U.S. jobs data pointing to a weak labor market. The committee noted in the release that job gains have slowed, and that the unemployment rate has edged up but remains low. They added that inflation has moved up and remains somewhat elevated. Fed Chair Jerome Powell had also already signaled at the Jackson Hole Conference that they were likely to lower interest rates with the downside risk in the labor market rising. He responded to the mention of my fandom, “So far, I don’t think this interview is going very well.” Yet, Wainwright will return to Busch Stadium on September 19 on a more serious note, this time to honor another former Cardinal and friend, the late Darryl Kile. Wainwright will take the mound not as a starting pitcher, but to throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch. Joining him on the mound will be Kile’s daughter, Sierra, as the two help launch a new program called Playing with Heart. “Darryl’s passing was a reminder that heart disease doesn’t discriminate, even against elite athletes in peak physical shape,” Wainwright said. “This program is about helping people recognize the risks, take action, and hopefully save lives.” Wainwright, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals as a starting pitcher from 2005 to 2023, aims to merge the essence of baseball tradition with a crucial message about heart health.
