Anthropic unveils Claude for Healthcare with HIPAA-compliant infrastructure and new life sciences connectors to CMS, Medidata, and ClinicalTrials.gov.

Anthropic has rolled out Claude for Healthcare, a HIPAA-ready AI product suite targeting providers, payers, and patients—marking the company’s most significant push into regulated medical applications. The January 11, 2026 announcement also expands Claude’s life sciences toolkit with new integrations for clinical trials and regulatory workflows.

The healthcare package introduces direct connectors to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services coverage database, ICD-10 coding systems, and the National Provider Identifier Registry. For providers, this means Claude can now verify coverage requirements, support prior authorization checks, and assist with claims appeals by pulling data from industry-standard sources in real time.

Prior authorization reviews—which can take hours and delay patient care—represent a key use case. Claude can cross-reference CMS coverage requirements against patient records, then propose determinations with supporting documentation for human review. The system also includes a template-based prior authorization skill that organizations can customize to their specific policies.

Personal Health Data Access

U.S. subscribers on Pro and Max plans can now connect their personal health records to Claude through new HealthEx and Function integrations. Apple Health and Android Health Connect support is rolling out this week via mobile apps. When enabled, Claude can summarize medical history, explain lab results in plain language, and help users prepare questions for doctor appointments.

Anthropic emphasizes these integrations are opt-in only, with users controlling exactly what data Claude can access. The company states it doesn’t use health data for model training.

Life Sciences Expansion

Building on its October 2025 Life Sciences launch, Anthropic added connectors to Medidata for clinical trial data access, ClinicalTrials.gov for drug pipeline information, and ToolUniverse for a library of over 600 vetted scientific tools. Additional integrations include bioRxiv, medRxiv, Open Targets, and ChEMBL.

New agent skills target clinical trial protocol drafting—incorporating FDA and NIH requirements—plus regulatory submission preparation and bioinformatics workflows using scVI-tools and Nextflow.

Enterprise Partners Signal Adoption

Sanofi confirmed Claude is “used by most Sanofians daily,” citing efficiency gains across their value chain. Veeva described the partnership as enabling “industry-specific agentic AI” at scale, while Commure noted Claude powers ambient AI documentation for “tens of millions of appointments.”

The new features are available to all Claude subscribers including Pro, Max, Teams, and Enterprise tiers. Claude remains the only frontier model available across Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry—a distribution advantage that could accelerate enterprise healthcare adoption as organizations evaluate AI vendors for clinical workflows.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
