Morgan Stanley, MS

Morgan Stanley recorded a sharp move higher as its stock surged after reporting strong fourth-quarter results and full-year revenue gains. The firm delivered higher earnings and expanded activity across core business segments, and the numbers supported a steady rise in the share price. The market reacted quickly as trading momentum increased during the session and lifted the stock performance.

Q4 Revenue Strength Supports Broad Growth

Morgan Stanley posted fourth-quarter net revenue of $17.9 billion and exceeded market expectations as multiple units advanced. The bank reported quarterly net income of $4.4 billion and showed firm improvement from the prior year. The results also reflected stronger advisory demand and higher activity in equity and fixed income underwriting.

The wealth management business reported $8.4 billion in net revenue and continued to expand its client asset base. Total client assets in wealth and investment management reached $9.3 trillion and grew with strong annual inflows. The unit delivered rising fee income and higher transactional activity which helped extend its revenue momentum.

The institutional securities division generated $7.9 billion in quarterly net revenue with notable gains in investment banking. Advisory revenue increased as completed M&A activity improved across regions and supported higher deal volumes. Equity underwriting and fixed income underwriting also advanced as issuance strengthened.

Full-Year Revenue Hits $70.6 Billion

Morgan Stanley reported full-year net revenue of $70.6 billion and achieved broad growth across operating segments. The firm delivered net income of $16.9 billion as earnings improved from the prior year. The results also reflected increased client engagement and higher activity across global markets.

Wealth management remained a key growth engine as annual net new assets reached $356 billion. Fee-based flows totaled $160 billion and expanded the division’s long-term revenue foundation. Loan growth also accelerated as balances reached $181.2 billion.

Institutional securities revenue reached $33.1 billion for the year and benefited from stronger equity activity. Equity trading delivered record results as prime brokerage balances increased and derivatives volumes climbed. Fixed income revenue improved slightly as macro activity and securitized products offset softer commodity performance.

Capital Actions and Market Reaction

Morgan Stanley repurchased $1.5 billion of stock during the fourth quarter and completed $4.6 billion in total buybacks for the year. The firm maintained a standardized CET1 capital ratio of 15.0 percent which reinforced its balance sheet strength. The expense efficiency ratio improved to 68 percent and highlighted ongoing operating leverage.

The stock rallied sharply as quarterly results outperformed expectations and full-year metrics showed solid expansion. The strong move followed a period of steady consolidation and confirmed renewed upward pressure in the share price. Market momentum strengthened as the day progressed and supported a firm closing level.

BlackRock boosts AI and US equity exposure in $185 billion models

The post BlackRock boosts AI and US equity exposure in $185 billion models appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. BlackRock is steering $185 billion worth of model portfolios deeper into US stocks and artificial intelligence. The decision came this week as the asset manager adjusted its entire model suite, increasing its equity allocation and dumping exposure to international developed markets. The firm now sits 2% overweight on stocks, after money moved between several of its biggest exchange-traded funds. This wasn’t a slow shuffle. Billions flowed across multiple ETFs on Tuesday as BlackRock executed the realignment. The iShares S&P 100 ETF (OEF) alone brought in $3.4 billion, the largest single-day haul in its history. The iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) collected $2.3 billion, while the iShares US Equity Factor Rotation Active ETF (DYNF) added nearly $2 billion. The rebalancing triggered swift inflows and outflows that realigned investor exposure on the back of performance data and macroeconomic outlooks. BlackRock raises equities on strong US earnings The model updates come as BlackRock backs the rally in American stocks, fueled by strong earnings and optimism around rate cuts. In an investment letter obtained by Bloomberg, the firm said US companies have delivered 11% earnings growth since the third quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, earnings across other developed markets barely touched 2%. That gap helped push the decision to drop international holdings in favor of American ones. Michael Gates, lead portfolio manager for BlackRock’s Target Allocation ETF model portfolio suite, said the US market is the only one showing consistency in sales growth, profit delivery, and revisions in analyst forecasts. “The US equity market continues to stand alone in terms of earnings delivery, sales growth and sustainable trends in analyst estimates and revisions,” Michael wrote. He added that non-US developed markets lagged far behind, especially when it came to sales. This week’s changes reflect that position. The move was made ahead of the Federal…
