Taylor Sheridan’s Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton, wrapped up its second season with an eventful 10th episode on Sunday, setting the stage for the series as it heads into Season 3.

Created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman made its series premiere on Paramount+ on Nov. 17, 2024, and returned for Season 2 on Nov. 16, 2024, for its second 10-episode season. In Landman Season 2, Thornton reprises his role as Tommy Norris, a fixer for M-Tex Oil in the volatile oil industry in West Texas. Upon the death of M-Tex owner Monty Miller (Jon Hamm) at the end of Season 1, Monty’s wife, Cami (Demi Moore), asserts control of the company while Tommy is promoted to company president.

Spoiler alert: The rest of this article reveals spoilers from the Landman Season 2 finale episode “Tragedy and Flies.” Also, note the rest of the article discusses a plotline from the last two “Landman” episodes that involves sexual assault, so it may be triggering to some readers.

Landman Season 2, Episode 9, concluded with two major incidents. Cami — who is partnering with powerful financial investor Danny “Gallino” Morrell (Andy Garcia) but doesn’t realize that he is covertly a cartel boss — fires Tommy from his position as president of M-Tex Oil. The reason Cami no longer wants Tommy onboard is he simply doesn’t back major risk by Cami that could cost her the company.

In the final scene of Episode 9, an unruly bar patron, Johnny (Mike Harkins), returns to The Patch Cafe after Ariana (Paulina Chávez) had him banned from the bar earlier in the season after he sexually harassed her. When Ariana takes a break outside of the establishment, Johnny is waiting and attempts to sexually assault her before he is subdued and severely beaten by Tommy’s son Cooper (Jacob Lofland). The scene revealed that the incident was caught on the bar’s security camera.

The Landman Season 2 finale begins with Tommy revealing to his father, Thomas (Sam Elliott), that he was fired from M-Tex Oil. Getting another job won’t be difficult for Tommy — he already has a meeting set up with the president of Chevron — he’s just not sure he wants to “jump on somebody else’s ship” and that his other option is to return to being a landman. Tommy’s colleague (and roommate), Dale (James Jordan), then appears on the scene and pledges his loyalty to his former boss and longtime friend.

Tommy then has a revelation and asks M-Tex attorney Nate (Colm Feore) if the company’s buyout of Cooper’s leases on the oil wells he’s secured has been completed, and Nate tells him that Cami still needs to sign off on it. Using a legal loophole as a justification, Tommy asks Nate to prevent the sale for a day, to which Nate reluctantly agrees.

Meanwhile, Nate becomes worried after he gets a call from Cami to come to see her at the M-Tex offices in Fort Worth. Nate’s convinced that Cami is going to fire him, but Tommy believes she is going to make Nate company president.

The action then cuts to Gallino, who learns that his wife, Bella (Stefania Spampinato), is going to have lunch with Tommy’s ex-wife Angela (Ali Larter). Thinking that Angela is going to ask questions about why Tommy was fired, Gallino tells Bella to approach any conversations they have with caution.

The next scene picks up as Arina awakens, and the daylight shows the extent of her horrific injuries from the beating and attempted sexual assault. Cooper pleads with Ariana not to go back to work at The Patch Cafe and says he will support her in anything he does. From there, Cooper then tells Ariana that they need to go to the police station to ensure charges will be filed against her assailant.

After that, as Tommy begins to put a plan into play to prevent the buyout of Cooper’s oil leases and bums a ride with Nate to Fort Worth, while Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) begins cheerleader camp at Texas Christian University and has an unexpected friendly encounter with Paigyn (Bobbi Salvör Menuez) after the two got off on the wrong foot in Episode 9. Eventually, Ainsley and Paigyn develop an understanding and decide to be roommates during the camp at TCU after initially rejecting the idea.

The Tables Turn Against Adriana And Cooper

While at the police station, officers are photographing Ariana’s graphic injuries and asking her questions, while detectives ask to clear up some details with Cooper.

While getting Cooper’s statement, the detectives inform him that they have seen the security footage and that he punched Ariana’s assailant 17 times. While at the police station, Ariana learns from her boss that the assailant had died and advises that she and Cooper get a lawyer.

Ariana then calls M-Tex lawyer Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) and explains to her what happened and that they need her help. Rebecca immediately intervenes and tells the detectives over the phone that anything Cooper said is inadmissible in court.

Rebecca then informs Tommy of the incident and Tommy calls his friend, Sheriff Walt (Mark Collie) and asks him to help him find out everything and fix the situation.

Then, while Angela and Bella are having lunch, Bella reveals that Tommy has been fired since Angela was clearly unaware of what happened. When Angela confronts Tommy about it on a call while he is driving, Tommy says he wasn’t going to tell her about the firing until he had a solution.

Tommy also assures Angela that he won’t retreat to drinking as he did in 2008 when he lost everything. He vows to solve the situation and make everything better for her and the kids.

After he hangs up, Tommy says out loud that he forgot to mention Cooper is being charged with murder. Yelling at God about all the troubles being dumped on him, a major highway accident unfolds before Tommy’s eyes, but he avoids injury. “That was low, God. That was f—ing dirty,” Tommy yells out loud.

Back at the police station, Rebecca and Walt turn up at the interrogation room where Cooper is being held, and Rebecca asks to see the surveillance footage of the incident. Rebecca tells the detectives that she will be showing how Adriana’s assailant viciously beat her and that she will be pointing that out to a jury. She also called out one of the detectives on his excessive use of force in a previous case.

After rattling off several ways of how that case will come back to haunt the detective and how a slew of lawsuits she’ll file will bankrupt the county, Rebecca advises the detectives to think very carefully about charging Cooper with murder for beating a man who was violently assaulting Ariana, who became a widow before meeting Cooper. After Rebecca briefs Tommy on the case, Tommy calls Walt and says he wants to meet with him, the Odessa chief of police and the county attorney later in the day.

Nate Faces Off With Cami

When Nate arrives in Fort Worth, Cami asks him about Monty’s business practices and why he understood them but didn’t approve. As Tommy predicted, Cami offers Nate the position of company president, but he instead offers his resignation, saying that Monty never designed the company to outlive him but designed it be sold.

Nate tells Cami that he and Tommy can help her with that and hopes she will give them the chance before the company ends her like it did Monty.

After Tommy’s plans to finance Cooper’s buyout don’t pan out, he meets with Gallino and asks him to honor his original contract with his son. Gallino agrees to finance Tommy and Cooper’s new oil venture, but it comes with Gallino’s threat that he’ll take what Tommy loves the most away if he messes with him.

Back on the private jet to Midland, Tommy asks Nate about what happened with Cami and Nate says he resigned. Tommy then hands Nate a check from Gallino and tells him to form a new LLC. Tommy moves to the back of the plane, where Angela is sitting and tells her about his new job … but there’s more to discuss since his day is not over yet.

Tommy Gets Justice For Cooper And Ariana

After landing in Odessa, Tommy meets with Walt, the chief of police, the detectives and the county attorney, who wants to charge Cooper with murder.

After Tommy said he learned from the hospital that Ariana’s assailant died of a heart attack, one of the detectives says he suffered the heart attack from the beating and the county attorney adds, “Criminals can be victims, too, Tommy.” Tommy then argues with each of the men in the room that they would have done the same thing in Cooper’s situation.

After Tommy tells the room about blowback the county will face with the people of Midland and Odessa if they charge his son after saving Adriana from the sexual assault, the county attorney asks, “What about the victim’s family?” Tommy replies, “That would be my family and that girl’s family. That’s the only victim. Maybe a criminal can be a victim sometimes, but not while they’re committing a f—ing crime.”

After the chief of police says that charges have not been filed yet and the sheriff and county attorney say they have no problem if they’re not, they all agree to drop the case. Tommy then stops by to see Cooper and Ariana to tell them that Cooper will not be charged and the case is behind them.

Tommy Announces A New Venture

While at Ariana and Cooper’s house, Tommy summons a meeting of all those close to him to announce that he’s formed a new oil company with Cooper as its president and he’ll serve as executive vice president (unless Cooper fires him).

Tommy also announces that Nate is the treasurer and Rebecca is the chief operating officer and chief counsel, and Dale is the head of exploration. Lastly, Tommy says that Thomas will oversee the drilling and Boss (Mustafa Speaks) is running the crew and offers the position of office manager to Ariana.

Tommy then announces the name of the company, which is CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle. Why Cattle? It’s just “legal horses—t,” Tommy tells his father, while he explains to his son that CTT stands for “Cooper, Tommy, Thomas.”

The episode ends with Tommy and Angela in the backyard, staring at horses in the field at sunset, where he says, the time is coming where “tragedy is going to dominate our days … but not today. Today we win.” Angela says she wins and Tommy wins every day, but he just doesn’t see it.

“It’s all around you. You just got to take the time to notice,” Angela adds, before inviting her ex-husband-turned-lover-again to take a bath.

Paramount+ announced in December that Landman has been renewed for Season 3. No premiere date has been announced yet for Landman Season 3, but since Seasons 1 and 2 each premiered in mid-November of 2024 and 2025, it seems likely the third season will arrive in mid-November of 2026.

Fed Decides On Interest Rates Today—Here’s What To Watch For

The post Fed Decides On Interest Rates Today—Here’s What To Watch For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Topline The Federal Reserve on Wednesday will conclude a two-day policymaking meeting and release a decision on whether to lower interest rates—following months of pressure and criticism from President Donald Trump—and potentially signal whether additional cuts are on the way. President Donald Trump has urged the central bank to “CUT INTEREST RATES, NOW, AND BIGGER” than they might plan to. Getty Images Key Facts The central bank is poised to cut interest rates by at least a quarter-point, down from the 4.25% to 4.5% range where they have been held since December to between 4% and 4.25%, as Wall Street has placed 100% odds of a rate cut, according to CME’s FedWatch, with higher odds (94%) on a quarter-point cut than a half-point (6%) reduction. Fed governors Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman, both Trump appointees, voted in July for a quarter-point reduction to rates, and they may dissent again in favor of a large cut alongside Stephen Miran, Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers’ chair, who was sworn in at the meeting’s start on Tuesday. It’s unclear whether other policymakers, including Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid and St. Louis Fed President Alberto Musalem, will favor larger cuts or opt for no reduction. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said in his Jackson Hole, Wyoming, address last month the central bank would likely consider a looser monetary policy, noting the “shifting balance of risks” on the U.S. economy “may warrant adjusting our policy stance.” David Mericle, an economist for Goldman Sachs, wrote in a note the “key question” for the Fed’s meeting is whether policymakers signal “this is likely the first in a series of consecutive cuts” as the central bank is anticipated to “acknowledge the softening in the labor market,” though they may not “nod to an October cut.” Mericle said he…
