Taylor Swift Ties Her Own No. 1 Record As Her Hit Song Soars

Taylor Swift ties her own record on the Digital Song Sales chart as “The Fate of Ophelia” matches the seven weeks that “Blank Space” led the charge a decade ago. The Hot 100 is Billboard’s most important songs chart. It’s the list that artists are usually referring to when they say they have a No. 1 hit or a new top 10 single, and it’s the tally that dozens of acts are hoping to reach each and every week.

The Hot 100 details the most consumed songs in America, and sales, streams, and radio airplay all help determine where a tune will land on the roster. Sometimes a hit succeeds because of a massive number of plays on platforms like Spotify, while in other instances, a dedicated fan base will purchase thousands, if not tens of thousands, of copies of a single, turning it into a Hot 100 success story.

Taylor Swift is in charge of the Hot 100 this week, as “The Fate of Ophelia” leads the charge once more. The tune performs well when it comes to all the important metrics, and it rises highest on the Digital Song Sales chart during what has turned out to be a special frame for the blockbuster.

“The Fate of Ophelia” Becomes the Bestselling Song in America

Swift is back at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week, as “The Fate of Ophelia” dances from No. 4 to the top spot. The single is not new to the loftiest rung, but rather it finds its way to the summit during its lucky thirteenth turn somewhere on the ranking of the top-selling cuts on sites like iTunes.

“The Fate of Ophelia” Matches Taylor Swift’s Career Best Run

As “The Fate of Ophelia” surges to No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, Swift’s current focus ties as her longest-running leader. With seven stints in first place, “The Fate of Ophelia” is now on the same level as “Blank Space.” That smash opened at No. 1 more than a decade ago, in November 2014, and wound up spending 24 periods somewhere on the roster.

Taylor Swift’s Single Experiences a Massive Sales Jump

According to Luminate, which gathers consumption data that Billboard uses to compile the weekly charts, “The Fate of Ophelia” sold just under 7,500 copies in America last week solely on digital sites. That number does not take into account purchases by fans on physical formats like CD or vinyl. Purchases of “The Fate of Ophelia” grew dramatically from one period to the next, as Swift’s cut experienced an 86% increase in sales in only a matter of days.

All those purchases help “The Fate of Ophelia” keep at No. 1 on the Hot 100. The same single falls from the highest space to No. 2 on the Streaming Songs chart, while holding in third place on the Radio Songs list. Those three rankings play a role in determining where (or whether) a tune settles on the Hot 100, and this time around, “The Fate of Ophelia” only commands one of the trio.

Taylor Swift Claims Several Top 10 Bestselling Songs

Swift claims a pair of top 10 smashes on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart. As “The Fate of Ophelia” surges back to No. 1, “Opalite,” the second-most-successful cut from Swift’s recent album The Life of a Showgirl, improves three rungs and lands at No. 9. “Opalite” has previously topped out at No. 3.

Taylor Swift Rules the Digital Song Sales Chart

Swift is the most successful artist of all time on the Digital Song Sales chart when looking at total number of rulers. The singer-songwriter has accumulated 30 No. 1s, with “The Fate of Ophelia” pushing her to that landmark number. Nicki Minaj comes in second place with just 17 winners.

Here is a list of all of Swift’s No. 1s on the Digital Song Sales chart:

Which Altcoins Stand to Gain from the SEC’s New ETF Listing Standards?

On Wednesday, the US SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) took a landmark step in crypto regulation, approving generic listing standards for spot crypto ETFs (exchange-traded funds). This new framework eliminates the case-by-case 19b-4 approval process, streamlining the path for multiple digital asset ETFs to enter the market in the coming weeks. Grayscale’s Multi-Crypto Milestone Grayscale secured a first-mover advantage as its Digital Large Cap Fund (GDLC) received approval under the new listing standards. Products that will be traded under the ticker GDLC include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano. “Grayscale Digital Large Cap Fund $GDLC was just approved for trading along with the Generic Listing Standards. The Grayscale team is working expeditiously to bring the FIRST multi-crypto asset ETP to market with Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano,” wrote Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg. The approval marks the US’s first diversified, multi-crypto ETP, signaling a shift toward broader portfolio products rather than single-asset ETFs. Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas explained that around 12–15 cryptocurrencies now qualify for spot ETF consideration. However, this is contingent on the altcoins having established futures trading on Coinbase Derivatives for at least six months. This includes well-known altcoins like Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), and Chainlink (LINK), alongside the majors already included in Grayscale’s GDLC. Altcoins in the Spotlight Amid New Era of ETF Eligibility Several assets have already met the key condition, regulated futures trading on Coinbase. For example, Solana futures launched in February 2024, making the token eligible as of August 19. “The SEC approved generic ETF listing standards. Assets with a regulated futures contract trading for 6 months qualify for a spot ETF. Solana met this criterion on Aug 19, 6 months after SOL futures launched on Coinbase Derivatives,” SolanaFloor indicated. Crypto investors and communities also identified which tokens stand to gain. Chainlink community liaison Zach Rynes highlighted that LINK could soon see its own ETF. He noted that both Bitwise and Grayscale have already filed applications. Meanwhile, the Litecoin Foundation indicated that the new standards provide the regulatory framework for LTC to be listed on US exchanges. Hedera is also in the spotlight, with digital asset investor Mark anticipating an HBAR ETF. Market observers see the decision as a potential turning point for broader adoption, bringing the much-needed clarity and accessibility for investors. At the same time, it boosts confidence in the market’s maturity. The general sentiment is that with the SEC’s approval, the next phase of crypto ETFs is no longer a question of ‘if,’ but ‘when.’ The shift to generic listing standards could expand the US-listed digital asset ETFs roster beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Such a move would usher in new investment vehicles covering a dozen or more altcoins. This represents the clearest path yet toward mainstream, regulated access to diversified crypto exposure. More importantly, it comes without the friction of direct custody. “We’re gonna be off to the races in a matter of weeks,” ETF analyst James Seyffart quipped.
