Wintermute’s 2026 Report Highlights Unfulfilled Bullish Market and Liquidity Scenarios

Key Points:
  • Wintermute underscores unfulfilled 2025 market expectations affecting liquidity strategies.
  • Examination of three scenarios aimed at expanding market liquidity.
  • Impact potential on Bitcoin, Ethereum, altcoins like SOL and XRP.

Wintermute’s 2026 Outlook Report highlights the failure of the anticipated bullish market in 2025, with liquidity challenges persisting and three scenarios for potential expansion identified.

The report questions the efficacy of established market cycles and emphasizes the need for expanded investment vehicles or significant asset movements to rejuvenate market participation.

Market Dominance Shifts and Liquidity Expansion Prospects

Wintermute’s newly published report highlights how the expected bullish market conditions for 2025 did not come to fruition, impacting cryptocurrency market dynamics. It emphasizes that the traditional four-year market cycle is becoming obsolete. According to Wintermute, the market was primarily dominated by a few large companies, concentrating most of the new capital.

The report discusses scenarios that could expand market liquidity in 2026. It mentions the potential for ETFs and DATs to broaden their investment scope, possibly including assets like SOL and XRP, to enhance market involvement. Additionally, the report discusses potential wealth effects resulting from a strong rise in Bitcoin or Ethereum, though it remains uncertain if this will translate into capital flow within the digital asset space.

Community reactions to Wintermute’s insights are varied, with discussions focusing on the viability of the outlined scenarios. Despite the lack of explicit statements from Wintermute’s leadership or key cryptocurrency influencers, the report has sparked conversations around investment strategies and market entry points for 2026.

Did you know? In 2025, altcoin rallies were notably shorter, approximately 20 days, compared to previous years’ 45-60 days, highlighting the market’s changing dynamics.

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
