OpenAI Revenue Exceeds $20 Billion in 2025

OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar reported that the company’s annual revenue in 2025 exceeded $20 billion. She wrote about this in a corporate blog, noting that in 2024, this figure was about $6 billion.

According to Fryar, the key factor in this growth was the expansion of OpenAI’s computing power.

In 2025, the company’s total infrastructure capacity reached 1.9 GW, compared to 0.6 GW a year earlier and 0.2 GW in 2023. She emphasized that revenues grew almost in sync with available computing resources.

Fryer also noted record daily and weekly user activity. The Microsoft-backed OpenAI platform covers text, images, voice, code, and APIs, and its use is increasingly moving beyond experimentation and becoming part of everyday workflows, the top manager noted.

The publication emphasizes that the company’s business model has evolved from a research project to a scalable commercial platform.

OpenAI has consistently developed consumer and corporate subscriptions and usage-based API pricing. In addition, the company has begun to introduce advertising and commercial elements into ChatGPT to finance its growing costs.

Separately, Fryer pointed out that computing power remains the scarcest resource in AI. Whereas OpenAI previously relied on a single supplier, it now works with a diversified ecosystem of partners, allowing for flexible management of equipment types and costs.

In 2026, the company plans to focus on the “practical implementation” of AI, primarily in healthcare, science, and the corporate sector. The next stage of product development will be related to agents and workflow automation. These are solutions that can work continuously, maintain context, and perform actions in different systems.
