Luke Combs Misses Charting Another No. 1 By Just One Space

Luke Combs misses a new No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart as his latest tune “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” opens at No. 2 behind Ella Langley. Later this spring, Luke Combs will release The Way I Am, his sixth full-length. The set is expected to drop on March 20, by which point the country powerhouse will have been promoting the full-length for more than half a year.

As Combs continues to promote the album’s current single “Days Like These,” another recently shared tune, “Sleepless in a Hotel Room,” nearly nets Combs a new No. 1 – but it misses out on ruling by just one space.

“Sleepless in a Hotel Room” Debuts at No. 2

“Sleepless in a Hotel Room,” one of several promotional singles shared from The Way I Am, debuts at No. 2 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. Combs misses out on another ruler on Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling country tracks on platforms like iTunes and Amazon by just one space, as “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” adds to his growing list of runners-up.

Luke Combs Adds Another Near-Miss to His List

Combs earns his forty-seventh top 10 smash on the Country Digital Song Sales chart as his latest promo cut arrives. 13 of those tracks have stalled at No. 2. That’s two more than his accumulation of champions, as 11 Combs tunes have led the charge for at least one frame.

Here’s a list of all of Combs’ No. hits on the Country Digital Song Sales chart:

  • “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma”
  • “Back In The Saddle”
  • “Doin’ This”
  • “Giving Her Away”
  • “Growin’ Up And Gettin’ Old”
  • “Love You Anyway”
  • “Must’ve Never Met You”
  • “My Kinda Saturday Night”
  • “She Got The Best Of Me”
  • “Sleepless In A Hotel Room”
  • “Two Dozen Roses” with Shenandoah
  • “Where The Wild Things Are”
  • “Without You” with Amanda Shires

“Sleepless in a Hotel Room” Becomes a True Bestseller

As Combs earns his forty-seventh top 10 success on the Country Digital Song Sales chart, “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” becomes his twenty-seventh placement between Nos. 1 and 10 on the all-genre Digital Song Sales list. The tune opens at No. 8 thanks to more than 2,300 purchases, according to numbers shared by Luminate.

Combs claims the loftiest debut this time around, beating arrivals by MGK (formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly), Olivia Dean, Nick Jonas, and Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon, the composers behind Stranger Things.

Luke Combs Debuts His New Tune on the Hot Country Songs Chart

“Sleepless in a Hotel Room” succeeds largely thanks to its first-week sales, which turned out to be grand enough to land the track on one of Billboard’s consumption-based rosters. The Hot Country Songs tally is built with a methodology that factors in sales as well as streams and radio airplay, and this period “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” opens at No. 35. Combs collects his seventy-second hit on the most important country ranking in the U.S.

Ella Langley Blocks Luke Combs From Another No. 1

Only Ella Langley, one of the most exciting new names in country music, blocks Combs from another leader on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. Her breakout smash “Choosin’ Texas,” which has quickly become her most popular composition, holds at No. 1. Langley slips from the top spot on the Digital Song Sales roster, where she makes way for both Taylor Swift and Djo to surge.

Luke Combs Leads a Quiet Week for Debuts on the Sales Chart

Combs is responsible for half of all the debuts on the Country Digital Song Sales chart this week, as only a pair of new releases find their way to the roster. All the way down at No. 10 comes “Yee Haw,” an unlikely collaboration between Pitbull and Fillmore.

Two other former top tens, “Friend Who Can” by Thomas Mac and “Walk My Walk” from AI-generated country music project Breaking Rust, return to the Country Digital Song Sales chart this time around. “Friend Who Can” reappears at No. 14, while former leader “Walk My Walk” is back in last place, at No. 15.

“Days Like These” Hits a New Peak on Multiple Billboard Charts

As “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” debuts, “Days Like These,” the second official single from Combs’s forthcoming The Way I Am album, reaches a new peak position on four of the half-dozen Billboard charts it inhabits. “Days Like These” lifts to No. 15 on the Hot Country Songs ranking, No. 16 on the Country Airplay roster, and to No. 44 on both the Radio Songs list and the Hot 100 at the same time.

Combs doubles up on the Digital Song Sales list, as “Days Like These,” which formerly opened at No. 4, returns at No. 23, joining “Sleepless in a Hotel Room” as American bestsellers.
