Bitget launches the whitepaper on the Universal Exchange

Bitget, one of the leading players in the exchange sector, has published the whitepaper for the Universal Exchange (UEX), marking a turning point in the evolution of trading platforms. The document, titled “Bitget Universal Exchange (UEX): Blueprint for Financial Technologies in Crypto, Stocks, Commodities, and Emerging Markets”, redefines the role of exchanges, transforming them from simple crypto-dedicated platforms into unified, multi-asset financial systems.

Written by Ryan Lee, Chief Analyst at Bitget Research, and also signed by CEO Gracy Chen, the whitepaper introduces the concept of a Universal Exchange as a concrete response to the traditional limitations between user experience, asset access, and security. The goal is to overcome the separation between centralized finance, decentralized finance, and traditional markets by integrating these worlds into a single account, with execution based on artificial intelligence and a unified risk and security system.

Integration as the Key to Competitive Advantage

In recent years, exchanges have begun to incorporate Web3 wallets, AI tools, and new asset classes. However, these features often remain disconnected from each other, limiting the potential for innovation. According to Bitget’s research, the true competitive advantage does not lie in the addition of new products, but in the level of architectural integration of these products.

The UEX positions Bitget at the forefront of this transformation, offering:

  1. Live support for on-chain assets
  2. Exposure to tokenized stocks
  3. AI-assisted trading via GetAgent
  4. Security framework based on proof of reserves and a $700 million protection fund

Gracy Chen emphasizes that true innovation occurs when systems become genuinely useful for users: “UEX aims to make markets operate in a coordinated manner. A single account, a unified experience, and a level of transparency and protection that users can truly rely on.”

Seven Dimensions of Maturity for the Universal Exchange

The whitepaper not only describes the implementation of Bitget but also frames the Universal Exchange approach in a broader context, comparing the progress of major platforms across seven dimensions of maturity at the UEX level. These aspects range from unified accounts to execution via AI, up to on-chain risk controls.

The research highlights that although many exchanges have initiated convergence efforts, true universality requires foundational design choices that are difficult to integrate later. Ryan Lee states: “The industry has reached a point where adding another wallet or another AI tool is no longer sufficient. What matters is that these systems actually communicate with each other. The UEX is our way of demonstrating how that integration can work on a large scale, in both crypto and traditional markets.”

A Model for the Future of Digital Finance

In addition to outlining Bitget’s strategy, the whitepaper proposes the UEX as a benchmark model for the entire sector. Exchanges, fintech companies, and even traditional institutions can adopt this framework, especially in light of the growing proliferation of tokenized assets and AI-based trading.

Global forecasts estimate that by the end of the decade, the value of tokenized assets will reach trillions of dollars. In this scenario, universal exchanges are set to become the fundamental pillar of growth, offering a platform capable of managing digital assets, stocks, commodities, and new financial instruments in an integrated manner.

A Whitepaper for Traders, Institutions, and Developers

The whitepaper of Bitget’s Universal Exchange (UEX) is now available and targets a wide audience: traders, institutions, developers, and policymakers. The document provides a detailed insight into the upcoming convergence between digital finance and traditional finance, offering tools and insights to understand and anticipate the ongoing transformations.

Security and Transparency at the Heart of Innovation

A key element of UEX is security, ensured by a proof of reserves system and a $700 million protection fund. This approach aims to offer users an unprecedented level of transparency and protection, fundamental elements for building trust in a rapidly evolving sector.

Conclusions: The New Frontier of Global Trading

The publication of the whitepaper on the Universal Exchange marks the beginning of a new phase for global trading. Bitget positions itself as a pioneer of a model that intelligently and securely integrates digital and traditional assets, laying the foundation for more accessible, transparent, and integrated finance.

The UEX represents not only a technological innovation but a true revolution in how users and institutions will be able to access and interact with the financial markets of the future.

UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach

The post UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. British crypto holders may soon face a very different landscape as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) moves to expand its regulatory reach in the industry. A new consultation paper outlines how the watchdog intends to apply its rulebook to crypto firms, shaping everything from asset safeguarding to trading platform operation. According to the financial regulator, these proposals would translate into clearer protections for retail investors and stricter oversight of crypto firms. UK FCA plans Until now, UK crypto users mostly encountered the FCA through rules on promotions and anti-money laundering checks. The consultation paper goes much further. It proposes direct oversight of stablecoin issuers, custodians, and crypto-asset trading platforms (CATPs). For investors, that means the wallets, exchanges, and coins they rely on could soon be subject to the same governance and resilience standards as traditional financial institutions. The regulator has also clarified that firms need official authorization before serving customers. This condition should, in theory, reduce the risk of sudden platform failures or unclear accountability. David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the proposals are designed to strike a balance between innovation and protection. He explained: “We want to develop a sustainable and competitive crypto sector – balancing innovation, market integrity and trust.” Geale noted that while the rules will not eliminate investment risks, they will create consistent standards, helping consumers understand what to expect from registered firms. Why does this matter for crypto holders? The UK regulatory framework shift would provide safer custody of assets, better disclosure of risks, and clearer recourse if something goes wrong. However, the regulator was also frank in its submission, arguing that no rulebook can eliminate the volatility or inherent risks of holding digital assets. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that when consumers choose to invest, they do…
