If you missed Boots on Netflix last year, add it to your watchlist. It came out of left field, a dark horse for one of my favorite shows of 2025. The show was perplexingly cancelled by Netflix after just one season, but at least it’s a complete story and you won’t feel like you’re left with any major plot threads dangling.

The show follows Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) as he follows his best friend to boot camp and learns the hard way what it takes to become a US Marine. Cope also has a big secret: He’s gay during a time when that was not legal in the military. At boot camp, Cope is driven hard by drill instructor Sergeant Liam Sullivan, played by Max Parker. Parker has his own secrets, and is easily the most compelling character in the series.

Now Parker is slated to join another major TV production, cast as Heimdall in the upcoming God Of War adaptation. Heimdall is one of Odin’s sons, a member of the Aesir Royal Family, and god of Foresight, Surveillance, Order and Foreknowledge. He’s the younger half-brother of Thor and Týr, and older half-brother of Baldur. His character was introduced in God Of War: Ragnarok, and serves as a major antagonist.

The casting news follows the announcement that Sons Of Anarchy and The Walking Dead alum, Ryan Hurst, will play Kratos, the God Of War himself. Hurst notably played Thor in the God Of War reboot. Christopher Judge, who played Kratos in the last two games in Sony’s long-running franchise, said of Hurst’s casting that “It’s a magnificent choice — A gamer who has played GoW since its inception so Kudos, you’ve got a great live-action Kratos.”

Parker, a British actor, previously starred in Peacock’s Vampire Academy and in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. He certainly looks the part as far as Heimdall is concerned.

Amazon’s God Of War adaptation is still a long ways off, with filming slated to begin in Vancouver in March of this year.

The only other casting news we have for God Of War is Teresa Palmer, who will portray Phoebe / Sif, Thor’s wife and goddess of family. The show has a great many more roles to fill before the pantheon is filled, though with both Sif and Heimdall already cast, it appears the story will either encompass both games in the rebooted franchise, or focus mainly on events from Ragnarok.

Who else would you cast for other major roles? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook.
