Harry Styles Returns With A New No. 1 Smash

It’s been nearly four years since Harry Styles released his third solo album, Harry’s House. The project catapulted him to another level of superstardom, which at the time was difficult to believe, since he was already so famous and successful.

The pop-rock singer promoted Harry’s House with multiple singles, including “As It Was,” the lead cut from the project. That tune quickly became Styles’s most successful smash, and it ensured that Harry’s House was both a critical and commercial blockbuster. Styles then spent years touring Harry’s House as well as its predecessor, Fine Line, on his historic Love on Tour, which brought in more than $617 million globally.

Styles recently announced a new album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, which is set to drop later this spring. Fans of the former One Direction musician need to wait more than a month before they get to hear the full collection, but lead single “Aperture” is out now, and unsurprisingly, it has become a fast bestseller.

“Aperture” Becomes an Immediate Bestseller

“Aperture” immediately tops the iTunes Top Songs chart, which lists the bestselling tracks on the digital download platform in America. Styles didn’t need long to conquer the ranking, as anticipation for any new music from the Grammy winner – and certainly the first taste of a new era – was incredibly high.

“Aperture” Pushes Bruno Mars From No. 1

As “Aperture” takes over the iTunes Top Songs chart, Styles pushes Bruno Mars down a peg. The pop superstar has been largely running the show for more than a week with his new single, “I Just Might.” That track also shot straight to the summit shortly after being released, and it currently tops nine different Billboard charts in America, including the Hot 100.

Harry Styles Released “Aperture” Early

When it came to releasing “Aperture,” Styles chose an off-cycle date, which is becoming more and more common. The singer-songwriter shared the single at 7:00 PM Eastern time on Thursday (January 22). The new tracking week begins in the music industry when Thursday turns to Friday on the east coast, but some musicians choose to drop albums, and especially songs, several hours prior. That helps them cut through the noise and generate a round of stories in the media, and it also encourages social media conversation as the tune arrives before most people have gone to bed.

As “Aperture” takes over the iTunes Top Songs tally, two of Styles’s three solo albums become bestsellers in America again on the iTunes Top Albums ranking. Fine Line rockets more than 100 spaces north, settling at No. 62. Harry’s House returns to the same roster at No. 105. Those are notable positions for years-old collections, and they will likely climb as Friday continues and Americans tune in to “Aperture” for the first time. There’s also a chance that the singer’s debut solo project, a self-titled affair, could reach the iTunes list as well.

Harry Styles Headed for Another Chart Smash

While it’s only been out for a few hours, “Aperture” already stands a shot at becoming a huge hit all around the world. In America, Styles could replace Mars atop the Hot 100, and “Aperture” might add to his growing list of big wins on Billboard’s global rankings.
