The president, who has repeatedly dismissed climate change as a hoax, has used his second term to roll back environmental regulations, boost fossil fuel production, and withdraw from international climate agreements. Scientists, however, have long warned that extreme cold events do not contradict global warming, noting that rising global temperatures can destabilize atmospheric patterns — even as NASA confirms 2024 was the hottest year on record.
