GOP lawmaker downplays Ilhan Omar attack: 'What happened to her was a peaceful protest'

Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) insisted that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) experienced a "peaceful protest" after she was attacked with an unknown substance at a town hall-style event.

During a Wednesday interview on Real America's Voice, host Gina Loudon lamented that political meetings were "not safe places to be anymore."

"I want Ilhan Omar to be denaturalized," Fine replied. "I want Ilhan Omar to be deported, but I do not want Ilhan Omar to be attacked or hurt."

"But the second thing is the person that I blame for this attack is Ilhan Omar," he continued. "Because by Ilhan Omar's own definition, what happened to her was a peaceful protest."

"And when in Minneapolis, liberals say that people throwing things at ICE officers is a peaceful protest, they can't be surprised when a crazy person hears them and does the same to them."

Fine concluded: "So this is a bed that she made, and now she has to live in it."
