PANews reported on January 29th that World (formerly Worldcoin) recently announced the release of World IDv 4.0, introducing an account abstraction architecture into its protocol system. This upgrade transforms World ID from a single-key mechanism to an abstract record in the public registry "World ID Registry," supporting multiple authorization keys and enabling users to generate authentication credentials on different devices or platforms.

The core improvements in the new version include: support for multi-key and multi-validator management, improving flexibility while maintaining the same identity; enhanced protocol resilience by introducing key rotation, revocation, and optional recovery proxy mechanisms; the launch of a web-based reference validator to simplify the browser experience; the generation of one-time null values through OPRF nodes to strengthen privacy protection; and the addition of a trusted party registry to help validators identify request sources, prevent phishing attacks, and lay the foundation for the future introduction of a protocol fee mechanism.
