Drake’s Career-Defining Single Rises To New Peaks A Decade After Its Release

Drake’s “One Dance,” with Wizkid and Kyla, hits new highs on both of Billboard’s global charts just ahead of its tenth anniversary. Later this spring, one of Drake’s most famous songs, a tune that helped prove he was not just a hip-hop superstar, but the kind of artist who could create a smash the entire world could dance to, will turn 10. “One Dance,” the rapper’s collaboration with Wizkid and featured vocalist Kyla, was originally shared in early April 2016, at which point it immediately became a worldwide sensation.

Weeks before the Views smash celebrates its tenth anniversary, “One Dance” climbs to new peaks on both of Billboard’s global rosters.

“One Dance” Reaches New Peaks on Billboard’s Global Charts

“One Dance” lifts to never-before-seen positions on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. On the former ranking, “One Dance” rockets 30 spaces, shooting from No. 79 to No. 49. Over on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., the same cut steps up from No. 83 to No. 55.

Billboard’s Global Charts, Explained

Both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. are compiled in nearly the same manner, but there is one very important difference. The Billboard Global 200 is built with sales and streaming data from dozens of nations, and it paints a picture of what humanity is listening to during any given tracking frame. The Billboard Global Excl. U.S. does not take into account purchases or streams from America, as it details what the rest of the world is listening to.

“One Dance” Recently Celebrated One Year on the Billboard Global 200

“One Dance” reaches its newly-set high on the Billboard Global 200 shortly after celebrating its first year on the roster. “One Dance” is up to 54 weeks on the all-encompassing tally, but it trails behind on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., where it has racked up 41 stays.

Drake’s Global Chart Track Record

Even as “One Dance” surges dozens of spaces and establishes new peaks, it is far from being considered one of Drake’s most successful cuts on either roster. The Canadian talent has sent more than 100 tunes to the two lists throughout the half-decade-plus since Billboard introduced them. On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., six of those cuts have reached the top 10, but Drake has yet to lead the charge.

He is far more successful on the Billboard Global 200. On that tally, “IDGAF” with Yeat, “Rich Flex” with 21 Savage, and “What’s Next?” have all spent one week running the show, while an additional 34 tunes peaked somewhere between Nos. 1 and 10.

Wizkid and Kyla’s All-Time Highs

“One Dance” now ranks as Wizkid’s loftiest smash on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. It beats “Essence,” his team-up with Justin Bieber and Tems, which pushed to No. 60 several years back. The same cannot be said when looking at the Billboard Global 200, where “Essence” is the winner and “One Dance” comes in second place.

“One Dance” has always ranked as Kyla’s greatest commercial success, and likely always will.

Wizkid Scores Another Global Hit with Asake

While both Drake and Kyla only claim the one win on both worldwide rosters at the moment, Wizkid earns a new hit, as “Jogodo” — his duet with fellow Afrobeats powerhouse Asake — launches at No. 75 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and No. 120 on the Billboard Global 200.

“One Dance” Appears on Multiple U.S. Charts

“One Dance” also manages to appear on a pair of American-only rosters. The collaboration slips several spaces to No. 21 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs chart, while climbing two rungs to No. 6 on the R&B Streaming Songs tally.

Drake and 21 Savage Jointly Land a New Radio Hit

Drake scores another new hit in the U.S. with “Mr. Right Now,” one of his many collaborations with fellow hip-hop musician 21 Savage. That track opens at No. 47 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list this week. Interestingly, the same cut simultaneously falls on two other rosters, including another radio ranking, and holds at its all-time high of No. 24 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart.

Fed Makes First Rate Cut of the Year, Lowers Rates by 25 Bps

The post Fed Makes First Rate Cut of the Year, Lowers Rates by 25 Bps appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The Federal Reserve has made its first Fed rate cut this year following today’s FOMC meeting, lowering interest rates by 25 basis points (bps). This comes in line with expectations, while the crypto market awaits Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech for guidance on the committee’s stance moving forward. FOMC Makes First Fed Rate Cut This Year With 25 Bps Cut In a press release, the committee announced that it has decided to lower the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 bps from between 4.25% and 4.5% to 4% and 4.25%. This comes in line with expectations as market participants were pricing in a 25 bps cut, as against a 50 bps cut. This marks the first Fed rate cut this year, with the last cut before this coming last year in December. Notably, the Fed also made the first cut last year in September, although it was a 50 bps cut back then. All Fed officials voted in favor of a 25 bps cut except Stephen Miran, who dissented in favor of a 50 bps cut. This rate cut decision comes amid concerns that the labor market may be softening, with recent U.S. jobs data pointing to a weak labor market. The committee noted in the release that job gains have slowed, and that the unemployment rate has edged up but remains low. They added that inflation has moved up and remains somewhat elevated. Fed Chair Jerome Powell had also already signaled at the Jackson Hole Conference that they were likely to lower interest rates with the downside risk in the labor market rising. The committee reiterated this in the release that downside risks to employment have risen. Before the Fed rate cut decision, experts weighed in on whether the FOMC should make a 25 bps cut or…
