Warning: Spoilers ahead for Bridgerton Season 4, Part 1.

Dearest gentle reader, a new season of Bridgerton is here, but like many of Netflix’s biggest releases, new episodes will be released in two parts, so you’ll have to wait a few weeks for the next batch. Read on to learn the full Season 4 release schedule, including the highly-anticipated premiere date for Part 2.

Season 4 centers on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the family’s infamous rake, as mounting pressure from his mother and English society forces him to consider marriage. At a masquerade ball in Episode 1, the second-eldest Bridgerton meets the alluring and mysterious Lady in Silver (Yerin Ha), a woman unlike anyone else in the ton. “You are the most intriguing person I’ve ever met,” he says while teaching her to dance on the patio.

When the clock strikes midnight, signaling the moment masks must come off, the Lady in Silver tells Benedict she must go. After a lingering kiss, she vanishes into the night, and upon her return home, viewers learn her true identity. Her name is Sophie Beckett, the daughter of an earl who was forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother after her father’s death. Her mother was a maid and died when Sophie was young.

With only a white glove as his clue, Benedict sets out to uncover who the woman is. His search eventually leads him to the Penwood house after Violet recognizes the family crest on the glove. Too frightened to reveal herself, Sophie stays hidden, and after Benedict’s visit, her stepmother realizes Sophie was the woman in silver who captured his attention that night. She dismisses Sophie and casts her from the home.

Benedict and Sophie cross paths again in the countryside when he rescues her from a group of drunken men. Caught in a rainstorm, he brings her back to his nearby cottage, where he recovers from his injuries and begins to truly see Sophie for who she is. The two share a romantic kiss by the lake, though Benedict still has not realized that the woman he is falling for is the same Lady in Silver from the ball.

Their slow-burn romance continues to build in London, as Benedict and Sophie grow closer within the Bridgerton household (read my full breakdown of the Part 1 ending here). If you’re excited to see their love story unfolds, here’s everything you need to know about when Part 2 will arrive, how many episodes are left and more.

Is There A Trailer For Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2?

At the end of Part 1 on Netflix, a short trailer teases what’s to come in Part 2. While the teaser has not yet been released on YouTube, viewers can watch it at the end of Season 4, Episode 4, “An Offer from a Gentleman.”

In the teaser, both Sophie and Benedict grapple with their romantic feelings for one another. Sophie considers leaving Bridgerton House, despite being embraced by both the family and the staff. Benedict, having given up his search for the Lady in Silver, must now reckon with the consequences of asking Sophie to be his mistress, an offer that does not please her in the slightest. In the teaser, Violet tells her son that “reality is where love grows.”

Will Benedict finally realize that Sophie is the woman he has been searching for all along? Will he look past her position as a maid and choose her as his wife, not his mistress?

“Sophie really doesn’t want to ever put a child in the situation she was in,” series showrunner Jess Brownell told Netflix’s Tudum. “Despite societal rules, there is a part of Sophie that’s hoping that Benedict could see beyond [the ton] and that what they have is so special it could overcome the obstacles of class.”

Watch the official trailer for Season 4 below.

Cashing In On University Patents Means Giving Up On Our Innovation Future

The post Cashing In On University Patents Means Giving Up On Our Innovation Future appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. “It’s a raid on American innovation that would deliver pennies to the Treasury while kneecapping the very engine of our economic and medical progress,” writes Pipes. Getty Images Washington is addicted to taxing success. Now, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is floating a plan to skim half the patent earnings from inventions developed at universities with federal funding. It’s being sold as a way to shore up programs like Social Security. In reality, it’s a raid on American innovation that would deliver pennies to the Treasury while kneecapping the very engine of our economic and medical progress. Yes, taxpayer dollars support early-stage research. But the real payoff comes later—in the jobs created, cures discovered, and industries launched when universities and private industry turn those discoveries into real products. By comparison, the sums at stake in patent licensing are trivial. Universities collectively earn only about $3.6 billion annually in patent income—less than the federal government spends on Social Security in a single day. Even confiscating half would barely register against a $6 trillion federal budget. And yet the damage from such a policy would be anything but trivial. The true return on taxpayer investment isn’t in licensing checks sent to Washington, but in the downstream economic activity that federally supported research unleashes. Thanks to the bipartisan Bayh-Dole Act of 1980, universities and private industry have powerful incentives to translate early-stage discoveries into real-world products. Before Bayh-Dole, the government hoarded patents from federally funded research, and fewer than 5% were ever licensed. Once universities could own and license their own inventions, innovation exploded. The result has been one of the best returns on investment in government history. Since 1996, university research has added nearly $2 trillion to U.S. industrial output, supported 6.5 million jobs, and launched more than 19,000 startups. Those companies pay…
