OpenAI Explores Bot-Free Social Media Platform to Rival X, Here’s More ⋆ ZyCrypto

OpenAI is developing a new bot-free social media platform that integrates ChatGPT and other applications. This comes after months of speculation about the project and criticism from Sam Altman about the growing number of bots on X.

OpenAI Eyes Human-Only Network

Sources familiar with the matter say the project is in its early stages, but the mission remains clear: eradicate bots. According to a Forbes report, the app is worked on by a small team and could deploy “proof of personhood” to verify distinct human features.

The company is expected to tap Apple’s Face ID and World Orb iris scanner. The latter is in World’s company suite, a project co-founded by Sam Altman. In recent months, the Iris scanner has come under intense scrutiny due to privacy concerns. Yet proponents highlight the positives, including accurate identity verification.

All accounts created on the platform would have a real human identity, a win when compared to big players like Meta and X. These platforms typically verify with emails and other means, which have proved ineffective to tackle the bot pandemic.

OpenAI’s social product will go head-to-head with X, which has continued to face bot issues despite Elon Musk’s promise to eliminate them following the acquisition. In a 2022 post, he wrote, “We would defeat the spam bots or die trying.”

Sam Altman also criticized bots on the platform for making social media seem fake. In a post on X and Reddit, he highlighted their growth over the past two years.

I have had the strangest experience reading this: I assume it’s all fake/bots, even though in this case I know codex growth is really strong and the trend here is real. I think there are a bunch of things going on: real people have picked up quirks of LLM-speak, the Extremely Online crowd drifts together in very correlated ways, the hype cycle has a very “it’s so over/we’re so back” extremism…”

A key area of interest for most potential users is how the platform will integrate with other products, such as ChatGPT. So far, sources have suggested using AI to create content, although similar features already exist among competitors. The new app faces strong competition from X, Meta’s Threads, and Bluesky.

Following the news, Worldcoin (WLD) price spiked 40% but has since fallen 10% to $0.4926.

Non-Opioid Painkillers Have Struggled–Cannabis Drugs Might Be The Solution

Non-Opioid Painkillers Have Struggled–Cannabis Drugs Might Be The Solution

The post Non-Opioid Painkillers Have Struggled–Cannabis Drugs Might Be The Solution appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. In this week’s edition of InnovationRx, we look at possible pain treatments from cannabis, risks of new vaccine restrictions, virtual clinical trials at the Mayo Clinic, GSK’s $30 billion U.S. manufacturing commitment, and more. To get it in your inbox, subscribe here. Despite their addictive nature, opioids continue to be a major treatment for pain due to a lack of effective alternatives. In an effort to boost new drugs, the FDA released new guidelines for non-opioid painkillers last week. But making these drugs hasn’t been easy. Vertex Pharmaceuticals received FDA approval for its non-opioid Journavx in January, then abandoned a next generation drug after a failed clinical trial earlier this summer. Acadia similarly abandoned a promising candidate after a failed trial in 2022. One possible basis for non-opioids might be cannabis. Earlier this year, researchers at Washington University at St. Louis and Stanford published a study showing that a cannabis-derived compound successfully eased pain in mice with minimal side effects. Munich-based pharmaceutical company Vertanical is perhaps the furthest along in this quest. It is developing a cannabinoid-based extract to treat chronic pain it hopes will soon become an approved medicine, first in the European Union and eventually in the United States. The drug, currently called Ver-01, packs enough low levels of cannabinoids (including THC) to relieve pain, but not so much that patients get high. Founder Clemens Fischer, a 50-year-old medical doctor and serial pharmaceutical and supplement entrepreneur, hopes it will become the first cannabis-based painkiller prescribed by physicians and covered by insurance. Fischer founded Vertanical, with his business partner Madlena Hohlefelder, in 2017, and has invested more than $250 million of his own money in it. With a cannabis cultivation site and drug manufacturing plant in Denmark, Vertanical has successfully passed phase III clinical trials in Germany and expects…
