Indictment accuses Don Lemon of 'intimidating multiple persons' during church service

An indictment from federal prosecutors revealed that journalist Don Lemon was charged with conspiracy against rights at a place of worship and violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act at a place of worship.

In a post on X on Friday morning, Attorney General Pam Bondi said that she had ordered Lemon's arrest "in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota."

Lemon was arrested in Los Angeles while covering the Grammy Awards. His indictment was later unsealed by the court.

According to the charging document, Lemon "conspired and agreed" with others who demonstrated on Jan. 18 "to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate multiple persons, including the clergy, staff, and congregants of the Cities Church."

Lemon's attorney, Abbe Lowell, confirmed that the former CNN anchor had been taken into custody.

"Instead of investigating the federal agents who killed two peaceful Minnesota protesters, the Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is the real indictment of wrongdoing in this case,' Lowell said in a statement. "This unprecedented attack on the First Amendment and transparent attempt to distract attention from the many crises facing this administration will not stand."

"Don will fight these charges vigorously and thoroughly in court," the attorney added.
