GOP lawmakers are 'squirming' and 'hiding under their beds' over new Trump act: ex-insider

A former Tea Party Republican congressman on Sunday said his prior colleagues are "squirming" because Donald Trump just made another choice that is going to make the 2026 elections more difficult for the GOP.

Appearing on MS NOW, Joe Walsh was prompted by a host who said, "Trump wants to build a 250 foot tall arch dwarfing the Lincoln memorial. The planned Independence Arch is intended to commemorate the United States' 250th anniversary. Built to Trump's specifications, it would transform a small plot of land between the Lincoln memorial and Arlington national cemetery into a dominant new monument, reshaping the relationship between the two memorials and obstructing pedestrian views."

Host Jonathan Capehart said, "As someone who walks over Memorial Bridge and I know that circle very well, you know the whole thing about pedestrian views might seem like, you know, superficial, but that's a dramatic view. Looking back into Washington from that circle. And he's going to put this Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas sized arch," before asking, "But Joe. Why?"

Walsh replied, "Who knows. And I don't even want to figure out why. But more importantly for us, the sound you hear is all my Republican colleagues, my former Republican colleagues just squirming right now and running to hide under their beds because he continues to do things like this, which are utterly going to destroy them in November."
