PANews reported on February 2nd, citing Beincrypto, that Jeffrey Epstein funded early cryptocurrency company Blockstream and discussed Bitcoin with Peter Thiel and Adam Back. Emails show that Epstein had connections with Michael Saylor, Kevin Walsh, and Joi Ito of MIT, among others. While there is no evidence that he illegally used cryptocurrency, his close ties to the early Bitcoin ecosystem are confirmed.

Jeffrey Epstein participated in the seed round of funding for Bitcoin infrastructure development company Blockstream. Blockstream co-founder Austin Hill wrote to Epstein, Joi Ito (MIT Media Lab), and Blockstream CEO Adam Back to discuss the allocation of the oversubscribed $18 million funding round. Epstein had previously confirmed he would invest through Joi Ito's fund. Both Austin Hill and Adam Back later appeared in emails coordinating trips to St. Thomas.
