The school district where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos is a student closed due to an unspecified threat Monday.

Columbia Heights Public Schools announced on Facebook that classes had been canceled a day after the boy and his father returned to Minnesota from a Texas immigration detention center in a case that garnered international attention, reported KARE-TV.

"Out of an abundance of caution, due to a credible threat, Columbia Heights Public Schools will be closed today," school officials posted on Facebook. "No students or staff should report to school today."

Adrian Conejo Arias and his young son were detained on Jan. 20 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, and a viral photo of the preschooler wearing a bunny hat and a plaid coat sparked outrage. School officials publicly disputed government claims about the incident.

A U.S. District Judge ruled that federal agents should release the duo from detention, but another preschooler and a second-grade student from Columbia Heights remain in detention facilities as of Jan. 30.
