Established by Mission Mobile Medical Group, GMMA is the first global nonprofit offering unified infrastructure, training, and advocacy for mobile healthcare providers, transforming individual mobile health programs into a unified force.
GREENSBORO, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Global Mobile Medical Association (GMMA), the world’s first comprehensive network dedicated to advancing the mobile healthcare model, officially launched today. GMMA represents a turning point for mobile medicine, uniting community health professionals, mobile health program operators, telemedicine champions, mobile integrated health professionals, and healthcare technology innovators under a shared mission: ensuring efficient access to and cost-effective delivery of quality medical care to every corner of the globe.
Mobile clinics currently serve more than seven million patients annually in the United States alone, delivering vital care to rural communities, urban health deserts, and vulnerable populations. Yet despite their impact, most programs have operated in isolation, lacking consistent access to shared resources, policy influence, or professional support. GMMA is designed to change that by providing infrastructure for collaboration, training, operational tools, and advocacy at a global scale.
“The people delivering care through mobile clinics are among the most innovative and mission-driven professionals in healthcare and have been working at the edge of the system, quietly reaching patients no one else is reaching, often without the support they need,” said Mollie Williams, Board Member of GMMA and VP of Evidence and Insights of Mission Mobile Medical. “GMMA is committed to unifying this field and giving mobile providers the power, tools, and support they deserve. Coming together here is how we transform from scattered fighters to a unified force.”
GMMA launches initiatives designed to deliver immediate and measurable outcomes. The Community Health Champion Program will provide training and certification for local healthcare workers, equipping them with advanced mobile medicine skills and tools. The Global Health Data Commons will serve as an open-source platform aggregating outcomes of data, benchmarking programs for evaluation, and enabling evidence-based policymaking and more efficient allocation of resources nationwide.
“Professionals working in Mobile Health have never lacked heart. They have lacked systems and support,” said Amanda LeFever, President and CFO of Mission Mobile Medical Group and GMMA Board Director. “For those of us who believe healthcare, at its core, is servant leadership, and must meet people where they are — today is a new day. We are here to create a home for the professionals, programs, and partners committed to expanding access and lowering costs through smarter, more sustainable care delivery models. You are not alone.”
The launch marks a shift from informal collaboration to a structured, scalable infrastructure. By uniting providers under one banner, GMMA enables mobile health professionals to share best practices, access shared tools, and amplify their voice in shaping healthcare policy. This comprehensive approach positions GMMA as both a convener and an advocate, ensuring that mobile health programs are no longer viewed as temporary or peripheral, but as vital components of healthcare delivery systems worldwide.
GMMA’s Board of Directors brings together distinguished healthcare leaders and experts from across the U.S., including:
