TON Foundation launches TON Pay SDK to enable fast, low cost crypto payments inside Telegram Mini Apps for global users.

The Open Network Foundation has launched TON Pay to expand crypto payments across Telegram Mini Apps. The new payment software kit is aimed at everyday consumer transactions. Moreover, the launch makes Telegram a rising star blockchain commerce platform for mainstream users across the globe.

TON Pay Launch Signals Telegram Commerce Expansion

TON Foundation has officially launched TON Pay on Feb 9, 2026, as per public disclosures. The SDK is designed to make it easier for merchants and developers to make a crypto payment. Therefore, complex wallet and settlement processes are much simpler within the environment of Telegram.

TON Pay is a wallet-agnostic payment layer for Telegram Mini Apps. As a result, users are not limited to particular wallet applications. This design has a lot in common with familiar Web2 payment experiences and makes overall transactions much more convenient.

The SDK allows you to accept the payments of Toncoin and USDT directly. Furthermore, it aims at sub-second transaction finality over supported networks. According to statements from the project, average transaction fees are expected to be less than $0.01.

TON Foundation confirmed that the initiative is led by the VP of Payments, Nikola Plecas. He is a former senior executive at Visa. Therefore, the project is a fusion of conventional payment knowledge and the blockchain.

Plecas said that TON Pay was designed for scale and reliability. He drove home the point of Telegram’s global audience of 1.1 billion monthly active users. Accordingly, the system has an efficient goal of supporting mass market transaction volumes.

By integrating payments directly into chat within the Telegram app, TON Pay lowers the barriers to adoption. Multi-step checkouts and prepaid gas fees are eliminated. As a result, users have the opportunity to complete purchases without having too many interruptions.

Developers enjoy having a unified toolkit to make backend operations easier. Wallet integration, settlement, and checkout flows are streamlined. Therefore, Mini App creators can devote their time to product innovation rather than to infrastructure.

TON Pay Challenges Everything App Payment Rivals

Unlike some rivals, TON Pay focuses on ultra low fees and fast settlement. This design provides for frequent small-value transactions. Therefore, everyday consumer use becomes economically feasible on blockchain rails.

The SDK works with the TON Connect protocol for wallet linking. This protocol is now the exclusive standard. As a result, the interoperability between the Telegram Mini Apps is significantly improved.

TON Pay also boosts monetization opportunities for developers. Advanced commercial Mini Apps become easier to build and handle. As a result, Telegram’s ecosystem may grow beyond entertainment-focused applications.

Mainstream onboarding is improved through embedded payment rails. Users no longer need separate applications or browser extensions. Therefore, crypto payments become more accessible to non-technical users.

Strategically, embedded payments make Telegram stickier. Users stay within one interface when it comes to communication and transactions. As a result, Telegram moves towards a Super App model.

While adoption data is still early, infrastructure readiness seems to be strong. High speed and low cost targets to support mass usage scenarios. Consequently, TON Pay may affect subsequent payment standards of crypto.

Overall, TON Pay is a strategic move in the direction of usability and scale. Payments are not separated from social interaction. Therefore, Telegram enhances its role as a global blockchain-based commerce platform.

Bitcoin Whales Sell 147,000 BTC Since August, Fastest Selloff Of Cycle

On-chain data shows the Bitcoin whales are selling at their fastest monthly rate of the cycle, a potential reason behind the asset’s latest decline. Bitcoin Whale Holdings Have Significantly Dropped Over The Past Month In a new post on X, CryptoQuant Head of Research Julio Moreno has listed a contributing factor behind the recent plunge in the Bitcoin price. The factor in question is the trend in the holdings of the whales. Whales are defined as BTC investors carrying more than 1,000 tokens of the cryptocurrency in their wallet balance. At the current exchange rate, this cutoff converts to about $112.8 million. Thus, the only holders qualifying for the group would be those with a substantial amount of capital. Related Reading: Bitcoin Dip-Buy Calls Spike: Why This Could Actually Be Bearish Exchanges and mining pool wallets may technically fulfill this requirement, but they are excluded from the group because they aren’t considered “normal” network participants. Given that the whales include some of the most influential investors in the market, their behavior can be something to keep an eye on, as it may sometimes have a direct impact on the asset’s trajectory. Even when it doesn’t, it can still be revealing about the sentiment among these humongous holders. One way to gauge whale behavior is through their total supply. Below is the chart shared by Moreno that shows how this metric has changed over the past year. As displayed in the graph, the Bitcoin whale supply saw a huge drawdown last month, indicating that the large holders participated in some significant net distribution. The metric made some slight recovery as BTC’s spot price surged above $117,000, but the trend has quickly flipped during the last few days as the indicator has registered another sharp plunge. Related Reading: Here’s The Boundary Bitcoin Bulls Must Defend To Save Rally Since August 21st, whales have sold a net total of 147,000 BTC, worth a whopping $16.6 billion. This selloff has taken the 30-day change in the cohort’s supply to the largest negative value of the cycle so far. Considering the timing of the selling, it’s possible that this is one of the reasons why Bitcoin has faced bearish price action recently. The market selloff may not be over yet, either, if the trend in the Exchange Inflow is anything to go by. As the CryptoQuant head has pointed out in another X post, the Bitcoin Exchange Inflow witnessed a surge on Tuesday. Investors generally deposit their coins in centralized exchanges when they want to participate in one of the services that they provide, which can include selling. As such, the growth in the Exchange Inflow could be a sign that holders are still trading away their Bitcoin. BTC Price Bitcoin slipped under $112,000 on Tuesday, but the coin has seen a slight bounce since then as its price has climbed to $113,000.
