TLDR

  • Aviva Investors partners with Ripple to move funds onto XRP Ledger.
  • Ripple expects major institutional adoption of XRPL this year.
  • XRPL now supports token escrow for Trustline and Multi-Purpose Tokens.
  • Ripple gains European experience in tokenizing traditional financial assets.

Ripple’s president, Monica Long, responded after major UK fund manager Aviva Investors moved its funds onto the XRP Ledger. The move marks a key step in bringing traditional financial assets on-chain, using Ripple’s blockchain for tokenization and compliance.

Long predicts that 2026 will see widespread institutional adoption of the XRPL, as more financial companies explore decentralized finance solutions and leverage blockchain technology to manage assets securely and efficiently.

Aviva Investors Moves Funds On-Chain

Aviva Investors, a leading UK fund manager and subsidiary of Aviva Plc, has moved part of its funds onto the XRP Ledger (XRPL). This is part of a newly announced partnership with Ripple to tokenize its traditional fund structures.

The partnership will allow Aviva Investors to transfer conventional financial assets to the XRPL while using blockchain features like compliance and token escrow. Ripple has noted that the XRPL has processed over four billion transactions and now supports over seven million active wallets.

Ripple President Comments on Institutional Adoption

Monica Long, president of Ripple, commented on the partnership following the XRP Community Day events. She praised Aviva Investors’ decision to move funds on-chain and stated, “In 2026, expect institutional adoption at scale.”

Long highlighted that this collaboration shows growing interest from financial institutions in using blockchain technology for DeFi and tokenized assets. She also shared that Ripple aims to make XRPL a preferred blockchain for institutional DeFi transactions.

Token Escrow and Compliance Features

The XRP Ledger now supports a new Token Escrow feature, which extends native escrow functionality to Trustline-based tokens and Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs). This allows financial institutions to manage tokenized assets more securely and efficiently.

The escrow feature is part of Ripple’s ongoing efforts to provide tools for compliance and structured fund management. It is expected to facilitate easier integration of conventional assets into blockchain networks, allowing institutions like Aviva Investors to operate on-chain while following regulatory standards.

Ripple Expands Its European Presence

This partnership marks Ripple’s first major collaboration with a European financial institution for traditional fund tokenization. Ripple will support Aviva Investors in transferring tokenized funds while gaining experience in European markets.

Monica Long emphasized that the XRPL has the capacity and infrastructure to handle large-scale institutional use. Ripple expects more financial companies in Europe and elsewhere to adopt tokenized structures on XRPL throughout 2026.
