The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth (JASDFW) hosted a capacity-attended seminar on February 12 that provided business leaders with analysis of economic conditions and strategic considerations for Japanese and American companies operating across borders. The Business Outlook in 2026: Japan–U.S. Perspectives event gathered senior executives from financial, real estate, and advisory firms at The Bonadio Group in Dallas for an evening focused on timely economic insight and cross-border dialogue.

George Goncalves, Managing Director at MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group), delivered a comprehensive outlook on the U.S. economy in 2026, including analysis of the evolving K-shaped economy and interest rate implications. Seiji Ohtomo, Senior Vice President at Taisei Corporation USA, provided perspective on Japanese real estate development and overseas investment trends based on nearly two decades of global experience. The discussion was moderated by Josh Whitworth, Tax Partner at The Bonadio Group, with additional perspectives from Richard Bigham, Assurance Partner, and Jay Jerose, Advisory and Consulting Partner.

The panel addressed multiple factors impacting cross-border operations, including merger and acquisition activity, tariffs, tax planning, and strategic considerations for companies navigating both markets. The full attendance demonstrated strong interest from the North Texas business community and reinforced the value of JASDFW’s Business Seminar Series as a forum for meaningful dialogue and professional connection. Lawrence P. Howorth, Chair of the Board of Directors for JASDFW, emphasized that programs like this highlight the importance of thoughtful discussion and relationship-building between Japan and U.S. business communities.

This seminar represents part of JASDFW’s ongoing commitment to strengthening U.S.–Japan relations through business education, cultural exchange, and professional engagement. The organization will continue this programming with another seminar on February 20 titled ‘INNOVATION AND GROWTH: URBANIZATION AND GLOBALIZATION IN THE U.S.-JAPAN PARTNERSHIP’ featuring five speakers, which will also be available to attend online.
