AfDB Mozambique Country Manager Rómulo Cunha Corrêa has formally presented his credentials, reinforcing the African Development Bank’s long-term engagement in the country.

The African Development Bank’s newly appointed Mozambique Country Manager, Rómulo Cunha Corrêa, has presented his credentials to the Government of Mozambique, marking the formal start of his mandate. The ceremony underscores the Bank’s continued institutional presence at a time when Mozambique is navigating fiscal consolidation and development financing needs.

During the presentation, Cunha Corrêa reaffirmed the AfDB’s commitment to supporting Mozambique’s economic transformation agenda. He emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation across infrastructure, energy, agriculture and private sector development, sectors that remain central to the country’s medium-term growth prospects.

Development priorities and financing alignment

The AfDB has been a longstanding partner to Mozambique across transport corridors, power generation and governance reform. In recent years, the Bank has aligned its operations with national priorities set out by the Ministry of Finance, focusing on fiscal stability, project execution capacity and inclusive growth.

In addition, collaboration with other multilateral institutions remains central. The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund continue to support macroeconomic stabilisation and structural reforms. The AfDB’s country programme therefore operates within a coordinated financing framework.

Energy, climate and infrastructure focus

Mozambique’s development trajectory is closely linked to energy expansion and climate resilience. The AfDB has supported renewable energy initiatives and regional interconnection projects designed to strengthen supply reliability. These investments complement large-scale private sector developments in the gas sector, while also advancing green growth objectives.

Climate adaptation financing is expected to remain a priority. Mozambique’s exposure to extreme weather events requires sustained investment in resilient infrastructure and disaster preparedness systems.

Regional and global positioning

Mozambique’s strategic location along the Indian Ocean corridor also shapes development priorities. As Asia deepens trade engagement with Eastern and Southern Africa, transport connectivity and port efficiency become increasingly important. Moreover, capital flows from the Gulf region continue to show interest in energy and logistics infrastructure.

Cunha Corrêa’s appointment therefore comes at a moment of both opportunity and complexity. The AfDB Mozambique Country Manager will play a key role in coordinating development finance, ensuring project execution discipline and aligning Bank support with national reform efforts. Institutional continuity and policy coherence are likely to define the next phase of the partnership.

Fintech Is Leveling the Playing Field in Trading, Says Zak Westphal

The post Fintech Is Leveling the Playing Field in Trading, Says Zak Westphal appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The trading world was once divided into two groups: those with access to high-powered data and those without.  As you might have guessed, it was the major institutions (like Wall Street) that had a monopoly on the tools, data access, and speed. This left retail traders fighting to keep up. This gap is closing rapidly, and the main reason is the introduction of new technology and platforms entering the fold. Zak Westphal has been at the forefront of this transformation. While Co-Founding StocksToTrade, he has been a big part of empowering everyday traders to gain access to the real-time information and algorithmic systems that have long provided Wall Street with its edge. We spoke with him about how fintech is reshaping the landscape and what it really means for retail traders today. Fintech has changed everything from banking to payments. In your opinion, what has been its greatest impact on the world of trading? For me, it’s all about access. When I began my trading career, institutions had a significant advantage, even more pronounced than it is now. They had direct feeds of data, algorithmic systems, and research teams monitoring information right around the clock. Retail traders, on the other hand, had slower information and pretty basic tools in comparison.  Fintech has substantially changed the game. Today, a retail trader from home can access real-time market data, scan thousands of stocks in mere seconds, and utilize algorithmic tools that were once only available to hedge funds. I can’t think of a time when the access for everyday traders has been as accessible as it is today. That doesn’t mean the advantages are gone, because Wall Street still has resources that individuals simply can’t have. However, there is now an opportunity for everyday traders actually to compete. And that is a…
