Attorney General Pam Bondi may be much closer to being impeached than she thinks, according to one expert.
About two weeks ago, Bondi attended a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee about the Trump Department of Justice's efforts to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, as they are required to do by federal law. Bondi appeared combative during the hearing and refused to acknowledge survivors of Epstein's crimes.
While the media has largely moved on from the hearing, legal expert Michael Popok, host of the "Legal AF" podcast, said on Sunday that there is one important constituency that hasn't. And their grievances against Bondi, which erupted following the hearing, are the "turning point" that could lead to her impeachment and conviction, Popok argued.
"MAGA is responding, not to support her, but is now attacking her," Popok said in a new video posted on Sunday. "Right-wing social media influencer after social media influencer, from Laura Loomer to Eric Erickson. When you lose the Nick Fuentes white supremacy vote ... that's saying a lot."
Popok added that MAGA appears to have a solid case to remove Bondi, primarily because no one has been brought to justice for Epstein's crimes under her leadership at the DOJ.
"Not one person on her watch has been brought to justice related to the Epstein files, while she's been busy exhausting all of our resources telling the world that Donald Trump is exonerated," Popok said. "How could he be exonerated without having an independent special counsel appointed that's independent from you, Pam Bondi, from Donald Trump and his ethical conflicts on this issue, and report to the American people?"
"In fact, I'll go further. I will suggest that it is mandatory by law and that she is derelict in her duty, which is an impeachable offense, not to have appointed a special counsel to investigate it," he continued.
