Abu Dhabi-backed technology group G42 will deploy a national-scale artificial intelligence supercomputer in India in partnership with US chipmaker Cerebras.

The unit will deliver 8 exaflops of capacity, G42 said in a statement. Exaflop supercomputers can analyse vast volumes of datasets far more quickly and efficiently than conventional computers.

The initiative will also involve the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, the statement said.

The project follows the fifth India-UAE strategic dialogue held in December 2025 and the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to India last month.

The supercomputer will operate under India-defined governance frameworks, with all data remaining within national jurisdiction.

“Sovereign AI infrastructure is becoming essential for national competitiveness,” said Manu Jain, CEO of G42 India.

Once operational, the supercomputer will be accessible to users including startups, small and midsize enterprises and government ministries.

Cerebras chief strategy officer Andy Hock said Cerebras and G42 have previously deployed Condor Galaxy supercomputers in the US, underscoring their ability to deliver large-scale AI infrastructure.

The announcement, which gave no financial details or the deployment date, was made during the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.

Earlier this month G42 signed a deal with a consortium comprising FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group to develop hyperscale data centres and AI infrastructure across Vietnam. Cerebras, in which G42 owns a stake, also raised $1 billion in a funding round.

In January the UAE and Qatar joined Pax Silica, a US-led coalition aimed at securing cross-border infrastructure and supply chains for the AI era.

UAE-based sovereign wealth funds, such as Mubadala and ADQ, and AI-focused developers and investors including G42 and MGX are working with a range of US partners as part of their strategy to win the global technology race.
