The Democratic Party must use the core MAGA voter base to its advantage in the upcoming midterm elections, a political analyst has claimed.

Russ Baker believes the hypocrisy of the dedicated Donald Trump voters will give Democrats the edge at the polls later this year. Writing in his Substack, the WhoWhatWhy editor-in-chief called on Democratic representatives to hone in on a critical voting group that would react to seeing MAGA hypocrisy.

He wrote, "As I’ve indicated, the possible themes that might resonate are myriad. But it’s likely that the brutality of the administration and its effort to actually steal an election offer the best chance of connecting with the heads and hearts of enough Americans.

"Here’s just a sample of the kinds of things worth advertising: With Trump twisting senatorial arms out of sockets to nuke the filibuster and pass the diabolical SAVE Act, if he succeeds, around 70 million American women who took their spouse’s surname will have all kinds of problems proving their identity at the polls to cast a vote. That’s because their birth certificates are under different names.

"Presumably, this will resonate with a critical voting group, who — regardless of their party preference — will be none too happy to learn that their citizenship is in doubt thanks to a maliciously misnamed piece of legislation."

Baker went on to suggest there needs to be a more focused campaign from the Democratic Party on the hypocrisy of MAGA voters and the Republican Party's rhetoric.

He added, "WHY aren’t Dems running a huge ad campaign on this? With footage of Trump crowing that if the SAVE Act passes, Republicans won’t lose an election for 50 years!

"I want to reiterate a point I made earlier: A reliably solid issue to win on is the MAGA right’s hypocrisy. Or if that’s too big a word, maybe 'These Guys Lied To You.' And then present all the examples where the Trump Gang just made it up or did the opposite of what they promised."

Fed Makes First Rate Cut of the Year, Lowers Rates by 25 Bps

The post Fed Makes First Rate Cut of the Year, Lowers Rates by 25 Bps appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The Federal Reserve has made its first Fed rate cut this year following today’s FOMC meeting, lowering interest rates by 25 basis points (bps). This comes in line with expectations, while the crypto market awaits Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech for guidance on the committee’s stance moving forward. FOMC Makes First Fed Rate Cut This Year With 25 Bps Cut In a press release, the committee announced that it has decided to lower the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 bps from between 4.25% and 4.5% to 4% and 4.25%. This comes in line with expectations as market participants were pricing in a 25 bps cut, as against a 50 bps cut. This marks the first Fed rate cut this year, with the last cut before this coming last year in December. Notably, the Fed also made the first cut last year in September, although it was a 50 bps cut back then. All Fed officials voted in favor of a 25 bps cut except Stephen Miran, who dissented in favor of a 50 bps cut. This rate cut decision comes amid concerns that the labor market may be softening, with recent U.S. jobs data pointing to a weak labor market. The committee noted in the release that job gains have slowed, and that the unemployment rate has edged up but remains low. They added that inflation has moved up and remains somewhat elevated. Fed Chair Jerome Powell had also already signaled at the Jackson Hole Conference that they were likely to lower interest rates with the downside risk in the labor market rising. The committee reiterated this in the release that downside risks to employment have risen. Before the Fed rate cut decision, experts weighed in on whether the FOMC should make a 25 bps cut or…

(Photo by Brandon Sloter/Image Of Sport/Getty Images) Getty Images St. Louis Cardinals lifer Adam Wainwright is a pretty easygoing guy, and not unlikely to talk with you about baseball traditions and barbecue, or even share a joke. That personality came out last week during our Zoom call when I mentioned for the first time that I’m a Chicago Cubs fan. He responded to the mention of my fandom, “So far, I don’t think this interview is going very well.” Yet, Wainwright will return to Busch Stadium on September 19 on a more serious note, this time to honor another former Cardinal and friend, the late Darryl Kile. Wainwright will take the mound not as a starting pitcher, but to throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch. Joining him on the mound will be Kile’s daughter, Sierra, as the two help launch a new program called Playing with Heart. “Darryl’s passing was a reminder that heart disease doesn’t discriminate, even against elite athletes in peak physical shape,” Wainwright said. “This program is about helping people recognize the risks, take action, and hopefully save lives.” Wainwright, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals as a starting pitcher from 2005 to 2023, aims to merge the essence of baseball tradition with a crucial message about heart health. Kile, a beloved pitcher for the Cardinals, tragically passed away in 2002 at the age of 33 as a result of early-onset heart disease. His sudden death shook the baseball world and left a lasting impact on teammates, fans, and especially his family. Now, more than two decades later, Sierra Kile is stepping forward with Wainwright to…
