UAE real estate company Arada has awarded the main construction contract for W Residences, a luxury waterfront project at Dubai Harbour.
The contract, won by Engineering Contracting Company, is valued at AED1.6 billion ($436 million), the developer said in a statement.
The work includes the development of 490 luxury branded residences across three towers, in addition to building amenities located within a landscaped connecting podium.
Enabling works, including excavation and piling, at the AED5 billion mixed-use project have begun, following the award of an AED51 million contract to APCC Piling & Marine Contracting.
Operated by Marriott International, the destination will include what the developers claim to be the longest infinity pool in Dubai and a 40,000sq ft fitness centre.
Dubai Harbour, located between Palm Jumeirah and Bluewaters Island, is developed by Shamal Holding and will have a cruise terminal and yachting facilities as well as high-end retail and dining.
Earlier this month group CEO Ahmed Alkhoshaibi told AGBI that Arada will bring its Australian contracting company, Roberts Co, to the Emirates to support its projects in the region and the UK.
The group has 55,000 homes and AED130 billion of projects in its existing and future pipeline, he said.
AGBI reported this month that Arada would be unveiling two large-scale masterplans in Riyadh soon.
