Congress stocks up on pillows and blankets expecting 'long night' from Trump

As President Donald Trump geared up to deliver what is expected to be his longest State of the Union Address ever, members of Congress were reportedly preparing for it too — with blankets and pillows.

According to Politico, "Some lawmakers were spotted on the House floor with blankets and lumbar pillows for a long night of sitting. One GOP senator joked that they brought a jacket in case they needed to fall asleep if the speech went long — though they also acknowledged that will be next to impossible with Trump speaking."

Trump's address to Congress last year, technically not considered a formal State of the Union, lasted a record 100 minutes. According to reports, some lawmakers were expecting a speech that could run as long as midnight.

Additionally, the report noted, "The interest in how long Trump might go is bipartisan. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) were overheard talking about the length of the speech as they headed toward the House chamber."
