US-based food delivery company DoorDash is winding down operations across its Deliveroo and Wolt brands in four Asian and Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar.
The other countries are Singapore, Japan and Uzbekistan, DoorDash said in a statement.
Deliveroo launched in Qatar in September 2022. It has been operating in the UAE since 2015 and launched in Kuwait in mid-2019.
The company will begin an orderly wind-down process in each country and will work closely with local teams and partners to support employees, merchants, consumers, riders and couriers through the transition, it said.
It said the decision follows a multi-month review of country-specific conditions, but did not give further details.
The food delivery companies earn revenues by charging restaurants a commission of up to 30 percent, charging customers between in the Gulf AED3 ($0.82) and AED6 per delivery, and paying drivers between AED600 and AED2,000 per month.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE account for 35 percent and 19 percent of the Middle East’s market, respectively, according to Rapid Delivery Analytics, a French data provider.
In July 2025, Saudi Arabia’s Jahez agreed to buy a 76.56 percent stake in Qatari delivery aggregator Snoonu for $245 million.
This month, Uber agreed to buy the delivery arm of Turkey’s Getir from Emirati controlling shareholder Mubadala.
DoorDash acquired Wolt in 2022 and UK-based Deliveroo in October 2025, expanding its reach outside North America.
