2025 Ransomware Attacks Increased 50%: Chainalysis Report

According to the annual report of blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis, ransomware attacks increased by 50% in 2025, reaching approximately 8,000 leak incidents. Attackers shifted away from large-scale targets and focused on small and medium-sized businesses. On-chain ransomware payments, however, dropped to 820 million dollars, an 8% decrease compared to 2024.

Chainalysis Report: Ransomware Attacks Hit Small Businesses

Chainalysis cited increasing regulatory scrutiny, sanctions on money laundering infrastructures, and large organizations’ refusal to pay ransoms as reasons for the decline. This trend has accelerated security investments in the crypto ecosystem. Targeting small and medium-sized businesses makes cyber defense tools for blockchain projects like ALT detailed analysis even more critical.

Dark Web Prices Fell: Cheap Ransomware and AI Threat

Victim access prices on the dark web dropped from 1,427 dollars at the beginning of 2023 to 439 dollars at the beginning of 2026.
