Already mired in an unpopular war in the Middle East, buffeted by a struggling job market and a cratering stock market, and facing new questions about his involvement with convicted sex traffickerJeffrey Epstein, Donald Trump saw fit to use his widely-viewed Truth Social platform on Monday morning to lash out at HBO host Bill Maher.

In the space of approximately 15 minutes, the president authored eight posts, each linking to a report from far-right and television trade websites reporting on his hatred of the late-night host, including calling Maher a “jerk” and a “total waste of time.”

One post noted a headline from Variety that blared, “Trump Slams Bill Maher as a ‘Highly Overrated Lightweight’ and Calls Their White House Dinner a ‘Complete Waste of Time’: ‘He Is No Different Than Kimmel, Fallon, or Colbert’”

“Donald Trump Rages At Bill Maher, Says ‘It Was A Total Waste Of Time For Me To Have This Jerk At The White House,’” Deadline reported, which Trump also reposted.

The president also linked to a report from the far-right Blaze, which asserted, “’Overrated LIGHTWEIGHT': Trump roasts famous TDS-ridden TV host in Valentine's Day morning message.”

The president gave no indication of what prompted the fusillade of Maher-bashing, however, late Friday night, Maher’s ,“Real Time” show will feature presidential critics Don Lemon and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
