PANews reported on March 7 that, according to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Defense has appointed computer scientist Gavin Kliger as chief data officer. Kliger previously assisted billionaire Elon Musk in pushing for U.S. government reforms last year.

Gavin Kliger is primarily responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of Department of Defense artificial intelligence projects, working directly with the U.S. Advanced Artificial Intelligence Laboratory to provide support to warfighters.
