CoinGecko’s 2026 hot wallet ranking places Trust Wallet at the top, followed by MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Phantom, Exodus, Blockchain.com, and Atomic Wallet, a list that reflects both the current state of crypto adoption and the shifting balance between EVM and Solana ecosystems.
Trust Wallet at number one is consistent with its position as the most downloaded mobile crypto wallet globally, with over 140 million users across more than 100 blockchains.
The address poisoning protection feature Trust Wallet launched yesterday, covered in this publication, adds a meaningful security layer to the product that has historically attracted users through breadth of chain support rather than any single feature.
MetaMask at number two has held its position as the dominant browser extension wallet for Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains since DeFi Summer 2020. Its integration with the Mastercard self-custody spending initiative covered earlier today, allowing users to spend directly from MetaMask without pre-loading funds, represents the most significant product expansion the wallet has announced in years.
Phantom at number four is the list’s most telling entry. A Solana-native wallet appearing in the top five of any global ranking reflects how far Solana’s ecosystem has grown as a retail destination. Phantom expanded to Ethereum and Bitcoin support in 2024 but its user base is overwhelmingly Solana-first.
Exodus at five and Atomic Wallet at seven represent the multi-chain desktop wallet category serving users who prioritize asset breadth and self-custody over ecosystem-specific features.
