Financial expert Levi Rietveld has outlined a scenario in which the global push toward asset tokenization could significantly impact the cryptocurrency sector, particularly the XRP ecosystem.

Rietveld argued that BlackRock’s asset management strategy could lead to a wave of capital into blockchain networks.

In the tweet, Rietveld stated that BlackRock is “getting ready to unleash an absolute tsunami on XRP,” referencing the company’s scale and its growing focus on blockchain-based financial infrastructure. The firm currently manages approximately $14 trillion in assets, a figure that Rietveld emphasized as a key factor in assessing the potential scale of tokenized finance.

His commentary accompanied a video in which he described how the company’s long-term plans to tokenize real-world assets could shift trillions of dollars onto blockchain networks over the coming years.

BlackRock’s Tokenization Vision

During the video, Rietveld referenced Larry Fink’s comments regarding the future of asset tokenization. According to Rietveld, Fink has repeatedly discussed placing traditional financial assets on blockchain infrastructure. However, he has not provided a precise timeline for when this transformation will fully unfold.

Rietveld noted remarks from 2025 in which Fink described the industry as being at the early stages of tokenizing assets across several major categories. These include real estate, equities, and bonds. According to Rietveld, Fink characterized this transition as a significant structural shift in global finance, one that could enable trillions of dollars in traditional assets to move onto blockchain-based systems.

Rietveld emphasized that this development is already underway, suggesting that the financial sector is actively preparing for a future in which tokenized assets play a central role in global markets.

XRPL’s Position in the Tokenization Landscape

In his analysis, Rietveld also connected the broader tokenization movement to the current cryptocurrency market cycle. He noted that while market conditions have been challenging during the ongoing downturn, institutional activity has continued to expand behind the scenes.

According to Rietveld, large institutions are steadily building infrastructure that could support large-scale blockchain adoption. He suggested that by 2028, the financial industry could begin to see trillions of dollars in tokenized assets actively operating on-chain.

Rietveld said that multiple blockchain networks will likely host these assets, but he expressed particular confidence in the XRP Ledger. He argued that the XRPL is well-positioned to capture a significant portion of the tokenization market due to its existing design and financial use cases.

While acknowledging that other blockchain platforms will also participate in this transformation, Rietveld stated that he believes the XRPL could handle a substantial share of tokenized asset activity if institutional adoption accelerates as expected.

The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
