PANews reported on March 23 that, according to CoinDesk, US federal prosecutors stated in documents submitted to a judge that a letter purportedly sent by Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), the imprisoned founder of FTX, was actually mailed via FedEx from the Palo Alto or Menlo Park area, and that his federal prison was mistakenly labeled as a state prison, with the signature being a printed "/s/". Prosecutors pointed out that prison regulations prohibit inmates from using private courier services like FedEx, details that raised doubts about SBF's true authorship, but they did not directly accuse SBF or his associates of forgery. This letter was used to support SBF's application for a retrial, one of his grounds for appeal being the recovery of customer funds during FTX's bankruptcy proceedings.
