Crypto.com scores 3.3 out of 5 on our six-dimension scorecard as of September 2026, leading on deposits and withdrawals and competitive on security, and trailing on fees, derivatives disclosure and asset coverage; it suits mobile-first holders in the US, the EEA and the UK who use the Visa card and the fiat rails, and it is the wrong pick for order-book traders who will not pay a subscription or lock up CRO for a lower rate.

Key Takeaways
  • Crypto.com scores 3.3 out of 5 overall, with a 4.5 on deposits and withdrawals and 2.5 on fees and on derivatives, where the entry-tier Exchange schedule and the contract terms sit inside the app rather than on an open page.
  • The App's EEA fee schedule lists 0.80% per cash-to-crypto or crypto-to-crypto purchase plus a spread, and up to 4% on card purchases, so a $1,000 App buy costs $8 before the spread against $0.50 as a taker on MEXC.
  • Zero App trading fees in the US are a subscription or a lock-up: Plus at $4.99 a month up to $20,000 of monthly trading, Pro at $29.99 a month up to $50,000, or a 12-month CRO lock-up of at least $50,000 for no cap.
  • Crypto.com Exchange's lowest openly published tier, VIP 1, charges 0.0631% maker and 0.0970% taker and requires 1,000 CRO or more plus $1 million of 30-day volume or an equivalent balance.
  • Crypto.com fully reimbursed the 483 accounts hit in its January 2022 hack, publishes a proof of reserves, and has held a MiCA authorisation in Malta since 27 January 2025.
  • Readers in the US, EEA and UK have a licensed option in Crypto.com and no account at MEXC; readers elsewhere who work from an order book can compare MEXC's one published price below.

Why Does Crypto.com Have Two Prices, and Which One Are You Paying?

Crypto.com is two products under one brand, an App that quotes you a price with the spread inside it and an Exchange that shows you an order book with maker and taker fees, and most of the confusion in Crypto.com reviews comes from comparing one of those prices with a rival's other one.
Most people start on the App.
The App is a broker-style screen: you see a quote, you tap, and the spread sits inside the quote.
Crypto.com's own Level Up page says in a footnote that other transaction fees and spread may still apply even when a tier promises zero trading fees.
The Exchange is a different product with an order book, and it is the fair like-for-like comparison with any order-book venue.
Its VIP schedule is published on an open page, and its non-VIP entry schedule is shown inside the Exchange application rather than on an open page, which is a disclosure gap this review scores rather than fills with a third-party number.
The rest of this review scores both products dimension by dimension, and says which one each number belongs to.

How We Scored Crypto.com

This review scores Crypto.com from 0 to 5 on six equally weighted dimensions: fees and costs, asset coverage, derivatives, security and custody, deposits and withdrawals, and customer support.
Every figure comes from Crypto.com's own fee pages, help centre, Level Up page, Exchange VIP programme page or terms, from a regulator, from CoinGecko exchange data, or from an established news organisation, and each carries a retrieval date.
Regional availability and regulatory standing are disclosed but never scored, because a platform is either usable where you live or it is not.
MEXC operates a competing exchange, and the full scoring rules, source hierarchy and conflict-of-interest policy are published in our exchange review methodology.
The support score is based on published channels only; our timed-ticket test for this platform is scheduled for the next review cycle.

Where Is Crypto.com Available, and Where Is MEXC?

Crypto.com serves the United States, the EEA under a MiCA authorisation, the United Kingdom and Singapore, and MEXC does not onboard residents of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the EEA, Singapore or Hong Kong, so most Crypto.com customers cannot act on the MEXC comparisons in this review at all, and every MEXC figure below is information for readers elsewhere.
Crypto.com received in-principle MiCA approval from the Malta Financial Services Authority on 17 January 2025, and the full authorisation for its Malta entity, Foris DAX MT Limited, followed on 27 January 2025.
Crypto.com also states that its Malta entity received a Limited Financial Institution licence on 27 February 2026 for stablecoin services in the EU.
In the United States, securities are offered through an SEC-registered broker-dealer, Foris Capital US LLC, and CoinGecko records a Major Payment Institution licence in Singapore.
For Canada, Japan, Australia and Hong Kong, product availability differs by country even where the App is offered, and Crypto.com's regional terms are the place to check.
MEXC
MEXC does not serve residents of the United States or the United Kingdom, and readers there should use a platform licensed by their local regulator.
As of 17 September 2026, MEXC is not authorised under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation and appears on ESMA's register of non-compliant entities following a September 2025 decision by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets; readers in the EU and EEA should treat a MiCA-authorised platform as the appropriate option.
MEXC's user agreement also prohibits Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong and mainland China, and the full list is in our restricted countries guide.

Crypto.com Scorecard 2026: Six Scores and One Overall Figure

Crypto.com earns 3.3 out of 5 overall, with 4.5 on deposits and withdrawals, 4.0 on security and custody, 3.5 on customer support, 3.0 on asset coverage, and 2.5 on fees and on derivatives, a profile built for card users and bank-funded holders rather than for order-book traders.

What Does Crypto.com Charge in Fees, on the App and on the Exchange?

Fees and costs: 2.5 out of 5.
The Crypto.com App's EEA fee schedule, in a help article dated 19 May 2026, lists 0.80% on cash-to-crypto purchases, 0.80% on crypto-to-crypto exchanges and up to 4% on debit or credit card purchases, all before the spread inside the quote, while the Exchange publishes a VIP ladder from VIP 1 at 0.0631% maker and 0.0970% taker to VIP 7 at 0.0000% maker and 0.0243% taker, with every VIP tier requiring 1,000 CRO or more and VIP 1 requiring $1 million of 30-day volume or an equivalent balance.
The non-VIP Exchange schedule sits inside the Exchange application rather than on an open page.
Independent reviews in 2026 report that entry tier at 0.25% maker and 0.50% taker, and we have not confirmed that figure on an open Crypto.com page, so we do not treat it as verified and it does not appear in our tables.
In the United States the App's zero-fee tiers are a subscription or a lock-up.
Plus costs $4.99 a month and covers up to $20,000 of monthly trading, Pro costs $29.99 a month and covers up to $50,000, and Private requires a 12-month CRO lock-up of $50,000 or $500,000 for unlimited volume, with Crypto.com quoting 8.5% yield at the first level and 9.5% at the second.
Private's benefits lapse if the locked CRO falls below the requirement, which ties the fee tier to the price of one token for a full year.
Our methodology prices the same trades on every platform, so the table below prices one $1,000 purchase and one year at the Exchange's lowest openly published tier.
Scenario
MEXC
One $1,000 purchase with cash
$8.00 on the App's EEA schedule at 0.80%, before the spread; up to $40 by card
$0.50 as a taker at 0.05%; $0.40 with the MX deduction; $0 as a maker
$50,000 of monthly trading for a year
$4,800 on the App at 0.80%; or Pro at $299.90 a year with zero trading fees, where Crypto.com's footnote says spread may still apply; Exchange non-VIP rate not openly published
$300 as a taker at 0.05%; $240 with the MX deduction; $0 as a maker
$1 million of monthly taker volume for a year
$11,640 at Exchange VIP 1's 0.0970%, which also requires 1,000 CRO or more
$6,000 at 0.05%; $4,800 with the MX deduction
Verified as of 3 September 2026 against Crypto.com's EEA Fees and Limits article, its US Level Up page and its Exchange VIP programme page, and MEXC's fee schedule; spreads, funding and network fees are excluded, and MEXC's figures apply to readers outside its restricted markets.
The gap at the VIP 1 threshold is $5,640 a year as a taker and $7,572 a year as a maker, because MEXC's published maker rate is zero and VIP 1's is 0.0631%.
The subscription changes the App line and not the Exchange line, and the CRO lock-up ties a fee discount to a twelve-month token position, which is the trade a reader has to price for themselves.

How Broad Is Crypto.com's Asset Coverage?

Asset coverage: 3.0 out of 5.
CoinGecko tracked 389 coins across 533 spot pairs on Crypto.com Exchange as of 3 September 2026, recorded an average bid-ask spread of 1.126% and rated its liquidity as low across the assets it benchmarks, and Crypto.com publishes no periodic listing count, so the catalogue is mid-sized and the depth behind it is thinner than the fee table suggests.
We do not score platforms on self-reported coin totals, and Crypto.com's own figure of 400 or more cryptocurrencies is not comparable to a tracked count.
The spread figure matters more than the count for a small-cap trader, because a low fee on a thin book can cost more than a higher fee on a deep one.
Crypto.com is not among the eight platforms in our listing disclosure index, so its delisting notice periods and withdrawal windows have not been measured by us, and that gap is stated rather than filled with an estimate.
Where Crypto.com reaches beyond crypto is the US product map: 5,000 or more US stocks and ETFs with zero commission through Foris Capital US LLC, prediction markets, and a self-custody wallet under the same brand.

How Strong Is Crypto.com for Derivatives?

Derivatives: 2.5 out of 5.
Crypto.com Exchange offers derivatives with fees and leverage limits shown inside the app, US users reach derivatives through a CFTC-regulated affiliate, and we could not read the contract terms on an open page at the time of checking, so the product exists but its published disclosure is the thinnest in this series.
Third-party reviews describe a 50x cap and a 10x margin product, and those figures are not in our tables because we could not verify them on an open Crypto.com page.
A leverage number without its position band is marketing rather than a specification, and a leverage number we cannot read at all is not a specification either.
CoinGecko's 2026 perpetuals report, which counted 879 new perpetual contracts on MEXC between January 2025 and April 2026, does not include Crypto.com in its count.
The score sits at 2.5 rather than lower because the product runs in several regions under published licences, and rather than higher because a reader cannot price it before opening an account.

Is Crypto.com Safe? Security, Custody and the 2022 Breach

Security and custody: 4.0 out of 5.
Crypto.com has one publicly reported breach, in January 2022, in which unauthorised withdrawals of about $34 million hit 483 accounts and every affected user was fully reimbursed, it publishes a proof of reserves with about $2.39 billion tracked by CoinGecko, and it runs an account protection programme of up to $250,000 against unauthorised access, which places it in the competitive band with an incident more than two years behind it.
On 17 January 2022 Crypto.com detected the unauthorised withdrawals, and CoinDesk reported that all affected users were fully reimbursed and that the platform introduced the protection programme in response.
CoinGecko records no incident against Crypto.com Exchange in the twelve months to September 2026 and lists it with a trust score of 9 out of 10.
Our rule for this dimension is consistent across the series: an incident more than two years ago that ended with users made whole, on a platform that publishes reserves, scores 4.0.
The half point above that would need an independently attested monthly reserve report with a named auditor, which we did not confirm on an open page during this review.
For the full incident record across the industry, our crypto exchange hacks database lists 81 breaches with their reimbursement outcomes.

How Easy Are Deposits and Withdrawals on Crypto.com?

Deposits and withdrawals: 4.5 out of 5.
Crypto.com runs bank transfers, SEPA, ACH and card funding in supported regions, a tiered Visa card whose rewards rise with the Level Up tier, and App withdrawals to external addresses at a fixed per-asset fee with a quoted two-to-three-hour arrival time and an additional hold on a first withdrawal to a newly added address, which is one of the widest fiat on-ramps in this series.
The half point it does not earn is the card route, because up to 4% on a card purchase plus spread is among the dearest ways to fund any platform in this comparison.
The practical answer is a bank transfer or SEPA deposit followed by an order on the Exchange rather than a tap on the App.
For US readers, the same account carries commission-free US stocks, prediction markets and the card, which is the strongest argument for Crypto.com and has nothing to do with a trading fee.

What Is Crypto.com Customer Support Like?

Customer support: 3.5 out of 5.
Crypto.com publishes a help centre and in-app support channels, and we have capped the score below 4.0 until our own timed ticket test runs, because a published channel is a promise and a timed reply is a measurement.
Our rule is one non-urgent ticket per platform per review cycle, timed from submission to a reply that answers the question, and Crypto.com's test is scheduled for the next cycle.
Third-party review sites carry a large volume of complaints about bot-first support and verification delays, and our methodology does not count aggregate star ratings, so those complaints are noted here rather than scored.

Crypto.com Benefits and Limitations

Benefits
  • A MiCA authorisation in Malta since 27 January 2025, US operations with securities through an SEC-registered broker-dealer, and a Singapore Major Payment Institution licence.
  • Bank transfers, SEPA, ACH and cards in local currency, plus a tiered Visa card, which make it one of the easiest on-ramps in this series.
  • A 2022 breach that was fully reimbursed, a $250,000 account protection programme and a published proof of reserves.
  • A US product map that puts commission-free stocks, prediction markets and a self-custody wallet in one account.
Limitations
  • Two prices under one brand: an App quote with the spread inside it and an Exchange whose non-VIP schedule is shown only inside the app.
  • Zero-fee App tiers that cost $49.90 to $299.90 a year or a 12-month CRO lock-up of at least $50,000.
  • An average bid-ask spread of 1.126% on the Exchange with liquidity rated low by CoinGecko.
  • Derivatives terms that cannot be read on an open page before opening an account.

Who Crypto.com Is For, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

Crypto.com is the right pick for US, EEA and UK users who want the Visa card, local-currency fiat rails and, in the US, stocks and prediction markets in the same app, and it is the wrong pick for order-book traders who will not pay a subscription or lock up CRO and for anyone who needs to see a fee before opening an account.
Crypto.com is the right pick if:
  • You live in the United States, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Singapore and want a platform licensed where you live.
  • You use the Visa card or fund by bank transfer every week and value the on-ramp over the trading fee.
  • You want US stocks, prediction markets and crypto in one account.
Look elsewhere if:
  • You have noticed that the App quote is wider than a live order book and you trade often enough for that to matter.
  • You will not pay $4.99 to $29.99 a month or lock CRO for twelve months to reach a zero-fee tier.
  • You want to read the entry-tier Exchange schedule and the derivatives terms before you open an account.
Readers in the first group who want a second licensed option can read our comparison of Coinbase alternatives, which covers the other fiat-rail exchanges on the same data standard.
Readers in the second group who live outside the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the EEA, Singapore and Hong Kong can compare MEXC's one published price in the section below, and our comparison of Crypto.com alternatives covers the wider field.

The MEXC View

MEXC operates a competing exchange, and this section is where our own position is stated rather than implied.
Crypto.com beats MEXC on licences, on fiat rails, on the card, and on the US product map, and for a US, EEA or UK resident those four points outweigh every fee row in this review, because MEXC does not onboard residents of those markets at all.
Where MEXC is the answer, for readers outside its restricted markets who work from an order book, is the number of prices and the price itself.
MEXC has one price for every trade, the one on the order book, and its fee page lists every spot pair with its own maker and taker row, readable without an account, at 0.0000% maker and 0.0500% taker on major pairs, with the 20% MX deduction taking the taker rate to 0.0400% with no lock-up and no subscription.
A $1,000 purchase costs $0.50 as a taker and nothing as a maker, against $8.00 before the spread on the App's EEA schedule, and a year at the Exchange's VIP 1 volume costs $6,000 as a taker and nothing as a maker, against $11,640 and $7,572.
Two boundaries keep that claim honest.
The zero applies to spot maker orders and to web and app futures orders, not to API-routed futures, which MEXC prices at 0.06% maker and 0.08% taker.
And the saving is available only to readers outside the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the EEA, Singapore and Hong Kong, which excludes most of Crypto.com's customer base.
MEXC also has no Visa card comparable to Crypto.com's tiered card and no self-custody wallet, and its fiat access runs through third-party routes and P2P rather than bank transfers in local currency.
Our review desk's verdict is that Crypto.com sells convenience with the spread inside the quote, and MEXC sells one order-book price with nothing inside it, and a reader should decide which of those they are paying for.
The head-to-head numbers are in our MEXC vs Crypto.com comparison.

Risk and Compliance Notice

Trading cryptocurrencies involves substantial risk, and derivatives and leveraged products can produce losses greater than the amount deposited.
Locking a token for twelve months to earn a fee tier exposes you to that token's price for the full term.
Nothing on this page is financial, investment, legal or tax advice.
MEXC operates a competing exchange; no platform can buy a score or a ranking position on MEXC Learn.
MEXC is not available in every jurisdiction and is not authorised under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation; readers in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong should use a platform authorised by their local regulator.
Always confirm current terms on a platform's own official pages before opening an account or placing a trade.
