CHONBURI, Thailand – The Philippines enjoyed its most prolific day in the 2025 Southeast Asian Games following an eight-gold haul on Monday, December 15, fueled by a golden barrage in practical shooting.

Rolly Nathaniel Tecson, Edcel John Gino, Genesis Pible, and Erin Mattea Micor hit the mark as they each delivered gold medals at the conclusion of the three-day practical shooting competition at the THPSA Shooting Range here.

Tecson won the men’s standard individual and Micor topped the women’s open individual, while Gino and Pible ruled the men’s and women’s production optic individual events, respectively, for a dominant showing in a sport staged in the SEA Games for the first time.

For Tecson, a champion in the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) Handgun World Shoots, it is high time for their sport to get the attention it deserves.

“We have a great chance and a great advantage in this sport. There are a lot of Filipinos who excel in this sport,” said Tecson in Filipino.

Also in Chonburi, Elreen Ando captured the Philippines’ first weightlifting gold in this edition following her triumph in the women’s 63kg class, where she posted a 229kg total.

The two-time Olympian cleared 102kg in snatch and 127kg in clean and jerk for a convincing victory that allowed her to win gold for the second straight SEA Games after she won the 59kg title in the 2023 Cambodia edition.

Over in Bangkok, young guns Hussein Loraña and Naomi Cesar swept the 800m golds in athletics following stunning performances that saw them beat former champions.

Loraña, 21, clocked 1:48.80 in the men’s 800m to beat out 2021 titlist Joshua Atkinson of Thailand (1:49.24), while Cesar, 16, recorded 2:10.2 in the women’s 800m to dethrone Nguyen Thi Thu Ha of Vietnam (2:10.3) in a photo finish.

The Philippines’ other gold on Monday came from wushu standout Jones Inso, who won the men’s taijiquan-taijijian a day after Agatha Wong defended her women’s crown.

Inso totaled 19.563 points to best Singapore’s Yu Xuan Tay (19.543) and Jun Kai Chan (19.530).

With 25 golds, 37 silvers, and 80 bronzes, the Philippines has overtaken Malaysia (25-28-80) for the fifth spot in the medal tally with five days of action left. – Rappler.com

The post Crypto News: Donald Trump-Aligned Fed Governor To Speed Up Fed Rate Cuts? appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. In recent crypto news, Stephen Miran swore in as the latest Federal Reserve governor on September 16, 2025, slipping into the board’s last open spot right before the Federal Open Market Committee kicks off its two-day rate discussion. Traders are betting heavily on a 25-basis-point trim, which would bring the federal funds rate down to 4.00%-4.25%, based on CME FedWatch Tool figures from September 15, 2025. Miran, who’s been Trump’s top economic advisor and a supporter of his trade ideas, joins a seven-member board where just three governors come from Democratic picks, according to the Fed’s records updated that same day. Crypto News: Miran’s Background and Quick Path to Confirmation The Senate greenlit Miran on September 15, 2025, with a tight 48-47 vote, following his nomination on September 2, 2025, as per a recent crypto news update. His stint runs only until January 31, 2026, stepping in for Adriana D. Kugler, who stepped down in August 2025 for reasons not made public. Miran earned his economics Ph.D. from Harvard and worked at the Treasury back in Trump’s first go-around. Afterward, he moved to Hudson Bay Capital Management as an economist, then looped back to the White House in December 2024 to head the Council of Economic Advisers. There, he helped craft Trump’s “reciprocal tariffs” approach, aimed at fixing trade gaps with China and the EU. He wouldn’t quit his White House gig, which irked Senator Elizabeth Warren at the September 7, 2025, confirmation hearings. That limited time frame means Miran gets to cast a vote straight away at the FOMC session starting September 16, 2025. The full board now features Chair Jerome H. Powell (Trump pick, term ends 2026), Vice Chair Philip N. Jefferson (Biden, to 2036), and folks like Lisa D. Cook (Biden, to 2028) and Michael S. Barr…
